Heads roll at the FIA following Cashgate Scandal

Christian Horner and Red Bull were outraged when rumours began to flood the paddock surrounding the team’s breach of the 2021 cost cap. Teams were permitted to spend a maximum of $145m over the course of the season, and despite the FIA only publishing the findings of their investigation around the weekend of the Austin Grand Prix, Red Bull had been accused of being cheats since the race weekend in Singapore, weeks before F1 headed to the USA. This led Horner to call for an investigation of his own, furious that someone had leaked his team’s cost cap breach to the media before any official information was released.
