'Tis the season to gorge on food and booze until the thought of turkey causes you to break out in a cold sweat.
The commercialisation of Christmas continues apace. TV advertisements exhorting parents to buy their kids gifts they can't really afford, and that the kids don't really need or want. Put it on the plastic, buy now pay later, easy credit, attractive interest rates........ The financial hangover lasts until June........ Debt is good. Having trouble meeting the payments? Let us lend you even more to pay it off!
Get together with all the relatives you've successfully avoided for the rest of the year. Feign surprise and joy at the godawful sweater (go on, put it on, it's Christmas!) which is only slightly less hideous than the one you got last year. Smile beatifically as the kids discard the hugely expensive electronic death ray machine and play with the packaging.
This year, let's just be nice to each other. Costs nothing and goes a long way.
To all the forum members, a very merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
