Aaaaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh!!!!!!!!

Posted by Autumnpuma , 29 April 2008 · 30 views

I've got eleventy billion tiny things to fix around chateau Puma and I'm going slowly insane. Why can't we all live in nice, simple mud daub and thatch houses again? I suppose it would be bad for Russ' business, but it would eliminate the need to fix the wiring in the attic. Or replace the drywall behind the water heater. Or the broken locks on the bathroom doors. Or the grout on the tiles. At least my lawn is a nice and tidy dirt. I was going to put grass in, but I've decided to do a zen garden instead...just throw a few rocks in there and rake a swirly pattern around them and call it done.

My long-awaited art studio is filled with boxes. I'm currently playing tetris with all my worldly goods because my new place is a bit smaller than my old one. Joy.

Oh, on top of all of this, my daughter is sick. Ugh.

Well, I've missed most of this year's grands prix and I'm wondering if I've really missed much. I should call Bruce and get an update on the state of things.

Much to everyone's dismay, I shall return to the forum soon.

Give up DIY! Post in a forum, is so much easier!

I'll have you know that wattle and daub is a very technical process, and you couldn't possibly attempt it without the services of an architect. (Ambrose Bierce, one of your greatest wits, defined my sort as those "who draft a plan of your house and plan a draft of your wallet") And as for thatching......
Glad to hear you're keeping busy, and hope the little one gets well soon.

C'mon, a bit of work does always good, and by 2035 you'll be a happy man with a nice home, a daughter that can take care of herself when she's sick, an art studio and a Fiat Spider, right? :P

About the money drainage, my condolences even though I can't understand the intrincacies of spending money that's actually your own...

Haha! :P

PS I'm with Andres.  I've never done DIY in my life.  I even got my Dad to do my school woodwork stuff.  Unfortunately I had to at least pretend to be doing it myself, and I painted it really badly, and didn't put it together right.  Didn't even draw it right.  Should've done sewing.

I'm late, but like ol' Bill Clinton, I feel your pain.  My wife, who, unlike Bill Clinton, I'm loyal to, and I got a house.  The lawn was s##t.  The driveway hasn't been repaved since 1979, when the house was built.  There was no garage when we bought it.

But it's a nice place anyway, and we've made it nicer.  It's really refreshing to be away from the city, though.  I can take a nice deep breath and not feel like my chances of getting lung cancer are doubling.

Anyway, hope things are going well with things and stuff.
