Beautiful Distractions

Posted by Autumnpuma , 11 September 2009 · 59 views

So, where the heck was I? Between you, me and the fencepost I was....distracted. On purpose. As in, "life has gotten too damned complex and I need a distraction". Right around January I found that I had over-extended myself and was juggling far too many things. I suppose I realized that when I unexpectedly dropped all of those things quite messily on the floor. Friendships and obligations were scattered everywhere. It took some time to pick all of them up. (Bruce, if you're reading this, expect a call from me soon and my apologies for not doing it sooner!)

Since January, I've been focusing on my family, my house and my job and not really much else. I'm to a place in my noggin' where I can start adding back balls to juggle and I suppose you people on this forum are one of those balls. Come to think of it, I've always considered the lot of you one-balled anyhow..... ;)

It's interesting, like never before in the past years, F1 has been filled with so many dramas outside the track and so many surprises on the track, yet this season does not seem to have arisen much enthusiasm from us. I also had the feeling that my own indifference had to do with a lot of things that happened to me, totally unrelated to the sport. Was it all coincidence? The answer might be both too complex and too trivial to bother.
In any case, it's always good to know that you (and Russ) are still around. In that sort of manly way in which we meet a friend again after a long time and instead of talking our ears off with all the things that happened we just give each other a knowing smile and then move on as if we have just seen each other yesterday.

On forums, much of the enthusiasm comes from controversy. In our forum it's no different. Except, perhaps, those of us that quietly enjoy a race well-won and a title well-fought. To us, the controversy is fun, but it's not the point of the thing. The relative lack of controversy this season (barring the Renault thing), has caused those who are enthusiastic about train-wrecks to leave, or perhaps post less, leaving the rest of us...who enjoy the racing.

Then again, I could be talking out of my arse.

"enthusiasm comes from controversy" Because people use to take more interset instead other topics in topic that are controversial and thats the reason why controversial topics are able to pull more audience...
