In a rash moment of anger with this forum, I deleted all my blog entries but one. I got a bit personal in a few of those blogs and I suppose I didn't want any of that info out there any more.
My mistake. I am sorry to the few who responded to those blog entries and had their comments deleted as well. Cav, Russ, Ecap, nothing personal
Anyway, I've been in the artistic mood lately. I used to draw and paint quite frequently about 10 years ago, but life has a way of pushing those fun pastimes back into a dusty corner, never to be experienced again.
I have dug into that dusty corner and have pulled out my paints. Many of the oil paints were fine, but the tubes had become brittle, so I had to trash them
If I had researched how expensive oil paints are nowadays, I probably would have tried to salvage them! Brushes were ok as were the linseed oils and cobalt dryers. With a bit of creative mixing, I could get away with replacing 5 paints only.
Well, after getting myself all set-up, I did my first oil painting in 10 years. It was very much like riding a bicycle; my body remembered how to paint even when my mind seemed to forget what to do. When I get home tonight, I'll take a photo of that piece and upload it here into a new blog entry. I've done one other piece since then, an acrylic of Gilles Villeneuve, that I may also upload here later.
Now that those forays into painting have whetted my appetite for art, I've been toying around with resurrecting a dream of mine from my youth.....
....comic books.
My earliest memories consist of reading old American comics; Fantastic Four, Avengers, Kid Colt-Outlaw, Two-Gun Kid, Spiderman, X-men. Russ, you should also know that I've read a few Dan Dare as well (I get the Mekon label in your title
)
Cheers!
