Ok, I am so bored! I've been watching the 2008 official Review. I thought about making a race by race review.
Words of warning:
1) I am biased. But I'm no stupid. Please save me the stupid comments along the lines of "Lewis won more points than anybody else, so he is a deserving champion".
In Spanish we call that a "Truth from Perogrullo" (Perogrullo was a character that always made obvious comments like "If you don't win, then you lose"). You can be a deserving winner, that does not mean you are a deserving champion. See Kimi 2007 for an example.
2) I will try to point out some aspects that I find important in the making of a worthy champion. Feel free to disagree. But please watch the race again or the official review before rubbishing my arguments. Memory is a tricky bitch and I am finding out that I had very distorted memories about some drivings and races.
3) I guess my criticism towards Nando won't cause much uproar. My comments about Massa and Kimi probably either. My comments about Lewis might, so let me explain briefly what I thought while watching the review and my approach as I will write each race (and view that race again): Yes I hate his personality. Yes, I think he is way overrated just because of his nationality. No, I don't think he is bad. I think he is one of the best (unlike Kimi and Massa, for example). Watching him again brought as usual mixed emotions. Knowing already the result of the season, let me forget a little about how much I hate his false "nice guy" personality. I found some amazing displays of talent from him. For those, being quick isn't enough. I don't have much respect for merely quick drivers as you might have guessed. He has the talent to be so much more. A new Villeneuve Sr., one that is finally a WDC, which was a dream GV couldn't fulfill. Lewis has the potential. He also made the most embarrassing blunders I've seen in a driver. They are not the "everybody has the right to have a bad day" kind of mistakes. They are the "Ide would be ashamed of doing that" kind of mistakes.
I hate that Lewis do not accept that at least in public. Massa, being a much more limited driver, had a more humble approach, and thus earned a lor of respect towards the end of the season. If Lewis can do that...boy, I will probably hate him but I will love seeing a new legend on the track! The potential is there.
I hate him because he can be so much better than he is now. DC made mistakes as awful as Lewis ones. I didn't hate DC. Because I didn't expect much of him.
Next stop...Melbourne 2008.

Saves me buying the DVD, so I look forward to it.
