No one's going to feel sympathetic if you run away.  If you've offended someone, apologize and carry on.

The best way to "not ruin your image" is to see what makes people frustrated with you and work to change that.

Just remember that while you may feel adult, you're still 16; you're going to act your age from time to time, no matter how mature you are.  When you choose to talk to adults, you have to meet adult standards.  It's tough, but I think people can understand if you screw up.  You're learning.

There are some personal issues that are best for keeping off the forum.  We obviously all have different opinions about different things (such as smoking, which I'm willing to bet was the topic that started this whole thing) and that's okay.  There's a time and place for sharing those views, and when you do, you need to make sure you do so respectfully.  People aren't going to cut you too much slack if you call smokers the "cancer crew" or whatever you called them.  It's fine to disagree, but you have to make sure you don't go to personal attacks or insult an entire group of people.

It's an Internet forum.  Don't take things too seriously.  Come back and enjoy yourself.

Fear not JHS, people have a tendency to gang up on this forum when there is a newcomer. Nothing you have said has been particularly controversial, unreasonable or genuinely offensive - so I'd stick around.

The point of a forum is to have different views and opinions. If you think you've said something thats p**sed someone off -good! You've affected that person enough to take time out of their day to respond to you.

I don't know why you think people don't like you, but you can't please everyone. Anyway, why would you want to try? If you think you're right then defend your view and don't apologise for that. If you eventually see the point from someone else's opinion then concede. Don't run off, stand tall.
