It's a new life for me, and I'm feeling good.....
Or something along those lines.
So. 2010. Already 10% into this century. A new decade. Cor, it makes you feel old, doesn't it?
I hope everyone here had as good a 2009 as I did. Getting to a Grand Prix for the first time since following the sport for 16 years was an obvious upside. The GCSEs and the stress that caused was an obvious downside. Overall, 2009 was mixed for me. The good bits, if anything, were better than ever. The bad bits.....I'm tempted to say they were worse than ever. In a way, I'm happy for that though, to have a balanced year. If I had a super-awesome perfect year I'd probably be writing now and saying how 2009 was really boring. But I'm not. Likewise, if it was the biggest load of *******s ever, I'd be writing exactly that. But thankfully, I'm not.
First of my A Level exams coming up later this month. Only the one though. English Lit. Yay. Makes things worse that I'm the only boy in my group. Yep, I know, I'm probably gonna get some comments saying "That's not a bad thing!!!" but for me, it sadly is. There was another boy in my group, a close friend of mine who was initally in the group who I talked to and such. But then he pussied out and dropped it. The *******! Really though, I feel a bit intimidated being the only boy. Even my teacher (who also happens to be a female) said it was a more feminine subject.....thanks miss, that really makes me feel better!
I didn't even know it was a more feminine based subject. A subject is a subject. Okay, sewing and Food Tech are more feminine, I realise that. But English? Some of my mates have joked with me since and said stuff along the lines of "If I knew then, I would have chosen it with you!". I personally chose it because I'd picked the other English already and want to become a Journalist. Doesn't help matters that the other Lit group actually has more lads in it and some of them I know pretty well. I want words with whoever was responsible for putting me in that group!
I'm not going to drop it though before you say anything. One because I can't. I've already been entered for the exam, so that blows. Two, it's not in my nature to drop a subject. I like to see things through to the end, you know? I'm not one to quit when things go wrong. Never have, never will. However saying that, I did come very close to dropping GCSE Photography last year. But that was hell. I can honestly say that was the lowest point of my school life, and I'm not being over dramatic. Forget being called "traffic light" as a kid, Photography GCSE is all you need for a nervous break down! Just don't go there. It'll only lead to hell, pain, death and doom. Or it seemed that way at the time. Saying that, I did get an "A" at the end of it, so obviously did something right.
School starts tomorrow. Not looking forward to it after such a long, nice, winter break. Or it may not. It's been snowing a lot here again, and my head mistress won't be there anyway as she's having an opperation (longer Xmas break!) so the deputy has to take over. And he lives a long way away, so here's hoping he shuts it. Yep, we have it easy in the UK.
I'm looking forward to this year though. 2010 looks to be pretty good where I am sitting. We're in the process of going about booking tickets and accomodation for the British Grand Prix for the second year in a row, so I'm super excited about that and finally getting to see Michael race. So that should be good, although it seems ages away. I think F1 is in for a super year though and I am really looking forward to following all the action as it happens. Roll on March is all I can say! BTCC too, looks to be in for another good year, although sadly we won't be gonig to Donington, my local track it seems after Gillett and his cronies ruined it. Next time I see a Gillett advert I'll be seriously tempted to say "Gillett.....the worse a man can get!"
I think we'll go to Silverstone and perhaps Oulton Park too if I'm lucky.
So I've rambled on enough here for one day. If you start work/school tomorrow, then I feel your pain. If not, lucky ********!
