The Ferrari Formula 1 team presented its new car for the 2009 season on Monday morning. Felipe Massa will complete the first laps with the F60 car later today, at the Mugello circuit in Italy.
The F60, breaking the trend of Ferrari's naming of its car models by the year, is the first contender to be launched ahead of the new season which kicks of in Australia in March. Until yesterday the F60 was to be launched at Ferrari's other test track, Fiorano, until unfavourable weather conditions saw plans altered.
The main differences in comparison to the 2008 car see a higher and wider front wing to meet the rule changes affecting aerodynamics for 2009, as well as a rear wing which is shorter but taller than its predecessor to allow greater airflow and more downforce during races, meaning competitors should be able to run closer together on track and therefore present them with more passing opportunities. The Ferrari is also the first car to be launched doning the Bridgestone slick tyres; this will be the first season the Japanese tyre manufacturer has produced its rubber minus grooves.
The 2009 launches will continue later this week, starting with Toyota who launch their new car on Thursday.

I can't wait to Thursday now so not only we can see Toyota's take on the new regulations, but to compare and contrast with the F60. Finally F1 is interesting again. Yay

Easy tiger, easy
Strange, they say the front wing is 'higher and wider'... looks lower to me (and I thought the regs were just that too?). And yes, we're going to see loads of first-corner-front-wing-flying methinks.

Those are the slicks they gonna use? No big fat ones? What a waste!

It would look even better if the rear wing was also wide, but I know that would make overtaking harder.
Is it me or is the nose (from c#ckpit to tip) really long? Cant wait to see all the others now!

It looks lower to me too, anyway it good to see ferrari lunching the first that the rest, that is the trend for this new season, fisrt in lunching the car, first in testing the new car, first winning with the new car and fisrt in both campionships at the end of the season.

Kimi Raikkonen: It is the same thing that I said before. I have no interest in driving for a bad team next year. If I race here, I always try to finish as high as I can. I don't need anything to motivate me. If I drive, I drive to do my best and that is it.

I just always end up disagreeing with you guys because of all the huge exaggerations, myths, theories & unjustified statements
Lewis Hamilton:
I never go with expectations, I go with a target. That is to be at the front, and the ultimate aim to win, which is the mentality I have always gone racing with.
You've got to be on the limit all the time - and I love that, because that's how I love to race.

I actually like the front wing. Ok, it could do with a bit more finesse(I accept suggestions of a better word to put there XD) but I like it.
And the car looks very nice from the side XD

I bet Honda's front wing (if they ever get there) will be based on Nick Fry's smile. It will scare the s##t out of whoever has one in their rearview mirrors.

Good stuff.
