We keep on working, we do our thing, Vettel shouts over the team radio,We are who we are!

"Vettel is a champion. That’s not referring to his achievements, but rather to his approach to everything he does. He wins. All the time. His preparation is meticulous, his attention to detail reminiscent of Michael Schumacher at his peak, and his performance on the track is almost always flawless. Vettel is capable only of domination. He knows no other way... Vettel is not in Formula One to be liked. He is there to win. And in the words of Ayrton Senna, perhaps the greatest of all Formula One drivers, “Nice men don’t win.”"
Chris Cameron-Dow

"One might be tempted to say Ferrari are inconsistent this year. I think the opposite.
They are having one very good race followed by one very poor race. Consistently.

Hi everybody!

I don't care about desing any more. I liked 2008 cars more but I expect R29 to be fast, at least faster than the R28.

I have to say, that as a former employee of the Regie, I was sorely disappointed. This car is simply shocking!  Cosmetically, it looks like a paint spillage and it's aesthetics are akin to those of a Humvee.  It seemed quick in a straight line but then it always has. God, is it ugly.

Yeah...looks lovely doesn't it?

Now seriously, I've been watching some footage on youtube...and I am surprised to say that after watching the 2008 and 2009 cars on track together I found the 2009 cars not that ugly at all. They DO look like Humvees, though. They look more rugged and imposing than their 2008 counterparts. But that is not too bad. Gives them a retro like look. I love the wider nose cone of the Renault.

They look beautiful, in an ugly way when you watch them on the track

Oh, and yes, Renault's livery still looks like the car crashed against a giant fruit salad.

Renault on course for strong first race - Bell
15 February 2009

Renault technical director Bob Bell claims his team is on course to put in a strong performance for the first round of the new season at the Australian Grand Prix at the end of March

"It's still very early days, but I'm becoming increasingly more satisfied with the performance of the car," Bell said. "Obviously the Portimao test was a disappointment to us as we only had one dry day and although the car ran well from a reliability point of view, we still had lots of unanswered performance-related questions."

"It's true that we didn't look great at that first test, but that was not really a surprise to us as we simply got the car out with an interim set of bodywork so that we could get miles on it, evaluate reliability and get the KERS system up and running," he added. "So we didn't really expect to be that competitive, especially as we were learning about the set-up that is needed for this new generation of cars. Since then we've put a lot of things right at the Jerez test and I think we've made good progress. Overall I'm encouraged by what we've seen so far."

Bell's words come amid mounting rumours that there was a more significant problem with the new car's aerodynamics than they let on. The team has also been spotted on several days testing in private at an airfield in the UK - a kind of testing teams only tend to do in order to work specifically on aerodynamic issues.

"What matters is performance relative to other teams and at the moment it's very difficult to judge because everybody is running different programmes, interim bodywork and different fuel loads," he added. "I think things will become clearer when we approach the final winter test, but for now it's too hard to judge. However, from what we've seen in Jerez this week, I don't feel there are any fundamental problems with the car: it's well balanced and is responding well to changes. We're lacking a bit of grip, which is the same for everybody, but that will improve as we fit new parts to the car and continue our development up to the first race. Overall I feel we're on course to deliver a good performance in Melbourne."

Just a headline grab from Bob Bell here.

Renault are always in a good position to develop as fast, if not faster than their competitors with Fernando leading the development program.

Still, with ING pulling out hopefully the car won't look quite so much like a dog's dinner....

I still prefer the team's paintwork from the Benetton/Mild Seven era when the cars looked damn good.
