Will Alonso's eye brows be so important for the car to be fast?

Sometimes I wonder what am I doing in an F1 forum...oh, yeah, now I remember, it was because I was banned from that gynecologists' forum...don't ask.

The team's chief designer Nikolas Tombazis reckons that Ferrari has been able to keep all the benefits of the push-rod layout without suffering any drawbacks in terms of the aerodynamic layout at the rear of the car."We evaluated different suspension configurations, and also pull-rod suspension like the one Red Bull introduced," he explained at the launch of the new Ferrari F150 on Friday.
"There are different possibilities - one is for aero volumes and we have found a way, which is not so visible on the car right now, to reduce the volume of the push rod suspension in an extreme way.
"That means we could reduce the rear volume, so our version is far more compact compared to the previous ones. We believe we have reached a similar level of packaging to the other ones.".

On the pull vs. push rod suspension issue: It's a non-issue. The biggest benefit of running a pull over a push is one of center of gravity. A pull-rod will let you run a lower CoG in the rear. This is only helpful if the rest of your car's arse is designed around it. Last year's Red Bull had an extremely sophisticated rear-end that lent itself to the lower CoG from the pull-rods.

You know, a lot of people are making a big drama about the "real Lotus" and who should yield to whom nonsense, so I'm going to make a big drama out of Ferrari stealing the name from America's best selling motor vehicle all season long.

So they have whipped up a modern di Dion suspension assembly? Possibly last seen on the dog of a race car, the Ferrari 312T, as tried to race by Gilles Villeneuve.
For those of you going WTF is a di Dion suspension then click here: http://en.wikipedia....ki/De_Dion_tube
For those of you wanting to see a dog then click here: http://en.wikipedia....ki/Ferrari_312T (in di Dion guise, of course)
Things bode oh so well for Ferrari...

“We keep on working, we do our thing,” Vettel shouts over the team radio, “We are who we are!”
"Vettel is a champion. That’s not referring to his achievements, but rather to his approach to everything he does. He wins. All the time. His preparation is meticulous, his attention to detail reminiscent of Michael Schumacher at his peak, and his performance on the track is almost always flawless. Vettel is capable only of domination. He knows no other way... Vettel is not in Formula One to be liked. He is there to win. And in the words of Ayrton Senna, perhaps the greatest of all Formula One drivers, “Nice men don’t win.”"

If I were a team manager I would design two different cars for 2011. One with KERS and the other without KERS at all.
Then I would design a fake and I'd call it F150.

What they have presented is essentially just the basic shell of the car. The aero package that they turn up to the first race with will be quite a lot more evolved than that.
