We keep on working, we do our thing, Vettel shouts over the team radio,We are who we are!

"Vettel is a champion. That’s not referring to his achievements, but rather to his approach to everything he does. He wins. All the time. His preparation is meticulous, his attention to detail reminiscent of Michael Schumacher at his peak, and his performance on the track is almost always flawless. Vettel is capable only of domination. He knows no other way... Vettel is not in Formula One to be liked. He is there to win. And in the words of Ayrton Senna, perhaps the greatest of all Formula One drivers, “Nice men don’t win.”"

it is probably fast as a bucket. where could they find money to make a good car?
they used petrov sponsors to secure money for wages, not development.

I hereby declare it the 2011 WCC winner and WDC (for Petrov) winner. A car like this should not go through the indignity of actually having to race against those other hideous cars for a whole season just to prove its worth. Lets just leave that for the lesser teams.

I like the car, in every aspect. It will be fast and hopefully reliable.

Yes, I can see when a car is fast just at first sight.

Sounds like they've got one heck of an innovation if true:

Quote

I’m hearing that the car is running an incredibly innovative exhaust  system. Rather than routing the exhausts to the rear, the exhaust exits  the car at the front, blowing over a front-mounted diffuser to generate  additional downforce. If this is true, it would certainly explain the  disappearance of the exhaust exits from the expected locations, and  would be a major innovation in F1.

So Caesar...you may be forced to eat humble pie. R31 a winner? I think so.

Lead driver Robert Kubica was a little off-message at one stage, when asked whether it was an honour to drive for Lotus he said, “I think Lotus is our sponsor. At least from what I know it is a sponsor,” he said when asked if he dreamt to drive for Lotus. So I could also say it is my dream to drive for Total. I think it would be different if Lotus owned the team and were fully involved into the team

Can't blame the guy for being confused, though.

Kubica is just about good enough, and so highly respected by that team, that he can get away with the occasional disregard of the marketing speak.

So I wish them good luck...

Just if they paint black those horrible red endplates... well... they wont.

Holy crap that's a nice looking car. A shame we have to endure all this Lotus vs Lotus vs Lotus crap.

If the rumors are true about a front exiting exhaust system, then innovation is still alive and well. How it works, we won't know yet. The car could still be a dog for all we
know.

Loved Petrov's comments about driving for "Lotus" and or "Total". A shame the F1 news orgs don't address this issue more. This car is no more a Lotus than it is a Lada Nissan Renault Genii Total Vodka Potato.

If this car is a race winner, then I can't help but think of poor old Kimi. How good with the Iceman look driving this beauty.
"Obviously I am pleased to have many fans. Who would not want? But to be honest, I have no idea why people like me."

"Do you really think I would be here if it was just about money?" Raikkonen hit back.  "I do enough fun things in my spare time than to have to listen to this bullsh*t."

"There is always a lot of talk about the motivation but nobody really knows what I do or what I think except for myself, so I don't really care about what people say."

"There's always talk about my motivation, written by people who don't know me and couldn't have an idea on how strong my motivation is. If I didn't feel I had the motivation, I would stop. My feeling is that I probably drove some of my best races in my last season in Formula One and I was very happy with my performance. I've never had any issues with motivation."

Vodka, ice-creams in the garage, rallying, snow-mobile racing, gorilla suit connoisseur, hitched to former miss Finland, James Hunt appeal, a vacant stare, talks like a Dalek, 1970s caps, Elton John glasses and some people call this guy boring? I wish we had more characters like him in F1 Posted Image

I guess either the competition will tear the Lotus Renos a new exhaust pipe or vice versa.

Maybe they forgotten to put exaust or did not have enogh money...
Even if it is revolutionary it won't be secret for along time, just give Petrov opportunity to kiss the wall and all the secrets about exaust will be visible.

I'm excited to see what this car will do in the hands of Kubica.

Actually if they did that I dont even think they would attempt to keep it a secret. Even if it is the most succesful develpoment for 2011, it would be mighty difficult to adapt such thing to the other cars without having to re design them almost from scratch.

I predict a new rule, instigated by Ferrari aka Luca, that will be to ban forward blowing exhaust ports.

Wonder if he realises, that technically, that would be a rule to tell him to shut his pie hole?

Car livery looks great.  You can't go wrong with gold on black.  It really stands out from the pack.  I hope they get the exhaust working.  If they do and it gives them a significant advantage, then expect to see all the other designers burning the midnight oil and try to retro-fit a similar system to their cars throughout the year.  It's great when a team tries to be different, rather than copy last years winning car.
