I like the car as well.  Yes JPM has lost a lot of weight; he’s been on a diet for quite a few months now.

are they chimneys sticking up from the sidepods?  interesting.  the rear of the car (from what you can see) is very compact.  looks like the engine and gearbox have been shrunk forward.  very tidy rear.  aesthetically a really ugly front though, and the chimneys spoil the look of the sidepods.  you can assume that they're functional as though.  overall a pretty ugly car, but tight and tidy.

I cant quite understand everyone going for the chimneys instead of the shark grills in the bodywork, surely the grills are more aerodynamic, rather than ugly chimneys dragging through the air?? perhaps not
How do we judge driver's abilities equally when not all cars are the same?

I agree, very neat. Hi I,m Ash – newly registered. I definitely think that MP4-20 will take the fight to Ferrari. From the related interviews, we can sense a huge amount of optimism and confidence from the team regarding this new car. Last year, as I remember – Mclaren was very quiet, even before the MP4-19 took to the track. The car really looks good!

the sidepods look pretty much like Sauber's, but like alot of ppl here, I hate that nose, it's huge!!! I wish they kept that 'anteater nose from the 19b, it looked great. Don't know why West isn't on the rear wing though. Side on the car is great, but a front end shot makes it look ugly.

"This year, with BMW, JV's going very well, and I'm pleased for him. Whether or not he'll get a drive next year I don't know, but I hope he does, he's an unusual, and very strong addition to the F1 community. A character." - Sir Frank Williams again on Jacques Villeneuve

There is romour that West will be eventually replaced by Johnie Walker as its major sponsor, even before the tobacco advertising bans hit Europe. The larger nose creates more overall downforce – I guess we will have to get used to it. I also liked the anteater nose.

I like it, it looks agressive.  Just let down by the profile of the engine cover, but we can blame the FIA for that.  I hated the anteater nose.

In 1958 Fangio decided to retire. His explanation for that was unique:

Fangio: "I came to test my car and after a few laps struggling with my `cache` I asked to my engineer: What did you change in the car?"
The engineer: "the shock absorbers. Why? They pay us to use..."
Fangio: "..so I realize that my time was come. I was the one that were in danger at the track, how could they change anything without asking me before? That was not the sport I like...besides that I'm too old...".
He was 47 and very quick yet...
