So, the last remaining BIG team to launch their car, launches in less than a week.  And being the crafty buggars that they are, they've released some sneak peeks...

All very Andy Warhol with all the black and a few outlines....of course the nose is blacked out, yet the logo gives away the fact it either has a stepped nose, or an extremely dog legged one, as the Merc logo is clearly below the area of the c#ckpit above the knees.

That's sad, Thought, they'd come up with something innovative, hopefully there is something that can be seen only up close =P

That rules out any innovation on Michaels' chin.

What's sad to me is how they seemingly used the MS Paint spray can to put a big old blob of teal on the sidepod with no thought of making the livery flow or making such a nice color pop.  Run a black car with some nice Petronas teal accents on it.  Not all pretty cars are going to win, but you may as well dress for the job you want, eh?

Will be interested to see if Mercedes can take the next step.  The driver market might actually get interesting next year, so they really have to step it up to attract someone better, because honestly, I can't see them doing another contract with poor old Schumacher, and Rosberg hasn't exactly done much, either.  But if you're going to replace them with Sutil and Alguersuari, you may as well just pull out of the whole endeavor.  They have to prove they're worth something to at least not be laughed it if they make offers to Räikkönen or Hamilton or Webber or Kubica or if he's well (quite honestly if I were a team sort of on the verge of breaking through, I'd sign Kubica and invest in his rehab.  You might lose out on money, but then again, you might give some confidence to potential investors/partners by making a bold signing.  They already spend a load of money as it is, may as well take a risk and hope you end up with the guy...or is his Ferrari option for 2013 still valid and preventing any other team from moving in...) or whomever else.  I realize they do have ties with di Resta and perhaps Hülkenberg, so that may work out for them if they're competitive enough to move up the field.  I'd still want one safer bet to pair with a young driver, either already in the Mercedes fold as they are or someone outside (i.e. Kobayashi).

SparkNotes: Go faster.

I'm still hoping Rosberg comes good , ala Button, he seems to have pace, just doesn't seem aggressive enough.

I'm really hoping Mercedes deliver something good this year. Presuming this is Michael's final, final season, it'd be nice to see him back on the podium, and maybe, possibly, a win.

I still refuse to acknowledge Canada as a good race on the basis that DRS robbed Schumi of a podium. :( Still p1ssed off about that.

For the good of the sport, it'd be nice to see Mercedes close up to Ferrari, Red Bull and McLaren too. Plus a more successful season would hopefully mean Mercedes commit to the sport long term and don't do a Honda, BMW or Toyota - quitting 'cuz they aren't winning.

Bob Bell, Geoff Willis, Aldo Costa, and Ross Brawn - That machine should AT LEAST ... not have tyres taking taking off for a vacation ala Hungary 2010 (Rosberg), Malaysia 2010 (Schumacher), Spa 2011 (Schumacher) ... =P

Or...they can come up with a car that combines the Renault 2009 performance, the HRT 2011 performance, the Ferrari 2011 (season start's performance), and the Honda 2008 performance...

Pig ugly indeed - the nose doesn't appear to have the much rumoured front f-duct either - certainly no overly large air intakes by the looks of that shot...
