Seeing both LH and SV do not have effective rear gunners for various reasons, I can see Alonso threatening a podium spot here (and the remaining races) and that should just be enough.
Lewis or Seb for the win, but if they keep trading victories, none of them will have a good enough run at the points.

don't get me wrong !
every single comment and prediction that you made this year on ferrari F2012 and Alonso came out to be totally opposite in real life.
you were like Niki Lauda when he makes prediction, always opposite.
when i saw that you made comment in this thread i said to myself: 'here we go again, he is doing it again, predicting doom for Ferrari and Alonso'.
then i saw what you wrote!  like it wasn't enough that Lauda said the other day ''Alonso will win WDC''.
now i don't believe that he will do it. you and Lauda jinxed Alonso!

thanks.........i think!

On a slightly more serious note, I'm getting a little unhappy with Ferrari of late regarding Alonso.
LDM has said FA should win the WDC then he can have a team-mate that doesn't trouble him!!!

This implies that if IF if FA wins the WDC this year he can have dirersa, hullk or whoever for a few years.
If NOT, then it's Massa for another year before bringing Vettel in.

I can't believe how ridiculous they are even to imply that FA is not exploiting all he can from the car/team.
Actually, strike all the above.........Fiat management have a long, long history of insulting their drivers!

Me and Niki eh!?.........back to '76 boyo!!!

what LDM said was  'Let our dear boy (Alonso) just concetrates on his driving and winning WDC, we will not trouble him with choice of team mate'.
it was LDM's interview with some Brasilian newspapers , and most of meaning was lost in translation to english.
Alonso has full support and best conditions that Ferrari can provide for winning WDC.

If LdM expects Alonso to win the title in 2012 just because he's driving a red car or just because he's leading with 6 races to go, then Monty needs a reality check.

Oh, he just needs 6 podiums...

Paul DiResta crashed his car and ended at the bottom in practice...

Guess he is trying to show he is a driver of Massa's caliber after all.

There's a very strong rumour about Hulkenberg taking Massa's seat. I don't care, I just think Massa should go to... I don't know.

Yeah, and the Hulk put his car in 4th in the practice session. One of the rumours is that the deal isn't done but Nico has a sort of "audition period" to impress Ferrari. We'll see, but anyway, looks like a Macca v RB scrap here.

Red Bull and McLaren will steal enough points from each other to keep both the WCC and WDC around where they are now relative to races left.  Hopefully I remember to record it...

Ferari found out that their wind tunnel is still flawed. Which probably explains why after a steep improving curve in the first half the car is now looking increasily like a dog again, wagging tail and all.

They will have to close it down in the winter. Meanwhile they will be using the tunnel that was used to design the highly successful Toyotas from days of yore.

All is lost.

Staggering pace from RBR & Vettel. If his car holds up, he should win in a canter. This could be the race that changes it all.

Nice home run by Koba. Hoping against hope that he scores a podium. Perez too has a shot at podium, given his tyre management.

Hamilton's lack of pace was baffling. Sabotage theories, anyone? Hoping he scythes through for a podium.

Grosjean at #5. 9 worried faces around him.

Nice run by Hulk. Wouldn't hurt his Ferrari chances.

Finally, Schumi again outqualifies (never mind the penalty) Nico. 9-6. Not shabby, eh?

I think there should be some allowance if there's a yellow flag, like adding on a minute to allow drivers another flying lap. It's unfair otherwise.

The yellow flags possibly prevented Lewis from setting a faster time than Alonso, which would have helped Vettel a little bit more. A bit less funny now, eh?

heheheehhehe... Lewis will possible end the race in front of Alfonso 2morrow

As the chequered flag was waved the yellows were still out for Raikkonen's car meaning his rivals were forced to back off in that sector.
Asked what happened, Raikkonen said: "I spun."
Clearly.
Asked about the impact his yellows would have on the rest of the field, he said: "I don't care what happened to the others."

Haha, to Alonso's credit, he always puts his car in a position to maximize results. That's what champions do when they don't have the best car. It's not his fault if others crash out or suffer a failure. I don't grudge him his "luck" as much as I used to earlier.

Anyway, I was wrong. Lewis himself said even without yellow flag, he'd not have been able to improve his time as his car set-up was bad.

Did de la Rosa out-qualify Pic and Petrov, or was that due to penalties?

I expect the top two to stay the same.  Suzuka's just been great for Red Bull over the years.  Kobayashi will fall back like he always does when he starts up front (for a guy who we only ever see on TV charging through the field, he sure loses a ton of spots on race day).  I'd not be surprised to see Alonso in third or fourth at the end of it.

I guess the real question becomes...is the Red Bull this good everywhere?  If it is, the WDC changes and the WCC is locked up.  But if McLaren reclaim their status as fielding the top car, Alonso's got the WDC and now the WCC is wide open.  Basically, we can't have a good WDC and good WCC fight.  It's one or the other and personally, I don't care which (or neither), as long as the individual races are good.

Always fun to watch cars going around Suzuka.

He's not been lucky. Has Vettel been lucky for having the best package in 2010, 2011 and 2012? Is Alonso lucky for having a slower but more reliable car? I don't see where the word luck fits in F1 no matter how much we tend to use it. Luck does not follow a pattern very often, does it?

Grosjean crashed into him (Spa). An anti-roll bar failed when he had a good chance for P1 (Monza). Raikkonen yellow flagged the track in front of him when he was in a FL for P3 with Button's gearbox penalty (Suzuka). The mechanical problem is part of the game, the accident is more likely when you start in the middle of the pack and the yellow flags are more damaging when you only have one set of new tires for Q3. That's part of the game.

No, I don't see where he's been lucky this season. Or any other driver for that matter. I wouldn't watch F1 if I thought luck was part of the game so maybe if you make me realise that luck is part of the game I can stop watching every race.

The Force, and Lady Luck, be with Alonso. That's the only way he could win this championship. But he won't. :(

This is the way I see it. I believe drivers make their own luck. Schumacher did during his domination years. What I'm basically saying is that Alonso this year has, together with his sterling driving, created his own luck. He has placed himself in positions to take advantage of other drivers misfortunes. It can be a good thing. Unfortunately this time around he suffered because of the yellow flag. It's bound to happen.
