Red Bull apparently not allowing pictures to be taken at the launch. Explains why there are not many photos of the car yet.

Few more pictures here. Seems Red Bull doesn't want anyone to see their new car. Have to wonder why they even bothered...

That purple is just awesome.  Thank you, Red Bull and Infiniti, for having a color that isn't red.

So, Red Bull, Ferrari, and McLaren all have noses that are, at least aesthetically, very different.  I trust Red Bull's is the most aerodynamically advantageous. ;)

They don't seem to have tried to reinvent the engine covering or rear wing endplates like some of the others, either.

I'd like to see that front wing in more detail, though.  There seems to be something new or unique happening there.

The car look so neatly package, a real gem to the eye. Can't wait to see that livery on the track, it will stand out beautifully...

Lovely stuff!!!!

We keep on working, we do our thing, Vettel shouts over the team radio,We are who we are!

"Vettel is a champion. That’s not referring to his achievements, but rather to his approach to everything he does. He wins. All the time. His preparation is meticulous, his attention to detail reminiscent of Michael Schumacher at his peak, and his performance on the track is almost always flawless. Vettel is capable only of domination. He knows no other way... Vettel is not in Formula One to be liked. He is there to win. And in the words of Ayrton Senna, perhaps the greatest of all Formula One drivers, “Nice men don’t win.”"

Classy, like Lady Gaga's wardrobe. What's with all that photo gestapo they had? And Webber saying that he is confident that the team will support him for a title?? Come on, Mark! Who do you think you are? Massa? :P

Ahhh...Red Bull...the new Ferrari :D

The thing is, Newey said the stepped nose is because the "vanity" panel would add too much weight.  But I always thought that the cars could *easily* get below the minimum weight regulation, and they actually had to have ballast to make it legal.

It's like the 1999 Tour De France when Armstrong went with an old-style front shifter to save weight, when a bunch of lead washers had been added to the bike to make it legal to race.

I don't get how weight is an issue when you already have to add it to qualify.

It's all about where the weight is placed.  Do you want the weight in the nose area, or where the ballast is placed?  I remember a discussion about this when IndyCar first started weighing cars with an assumed driver weight, making up the rest in ballast.  A lot of people felt it was advantageous to have a lighter driver with ballast than a heavier driver.  Same concept about positioning of weight, though just more extreme because I can't imagine the vanity panel weighs that much.

Also, teams find ways to get below the minimum weight between weigh-ins; always have, always will.  There's a team in small-time racing that had a set of tires they used for weigh-ins.  Each tire weighed 45 kg more than the tires they were running.  They'd change the tires after the weigh-in and be 180 kg lighter.  Something like that wouldn't happen in F1, but I'm sure they have their own tricks.  At that point, the advantage is regained.

Some one punched it in the nose, and now it has a beak like Prost...

Re the weight of the vanity cover and Eric's statement "I can't imagine the vanity panel weighs that much"....it may not weigh much, lets say for argument sake, it weighs 1kg...in F1 terms, this is a lot of weight.  You can shift the weight around the car by stiffening up the coils on the shocks (compressing them more with preload), or slackening the coils (letting them open up more), but in terms of F1 suspension setups, this may be detrimental to the suspension as a whole on the RBR (and Lotus).  It will not be the mass of the cover per se that is the problem, but the detrimental effect on suspension set up it may cause.

It sound like the weight card is an excuse, The cars min weight went up 2 kgs for this year. It not like when they first got KERS all the drivers lost weight.

Kimi Raikkonen: It is the same thing that I said before. I have no interest in driving for a bad team next year. If I race here, I always try to finish as high as I can. I don't need anything to motivate me. If I drive, I drive to do my best and that is it.
jemstride:
"I get the feeling that Alonso fans tend to heap over-praise on Alonso and bring down Kimi whenever they can, with mere theories and unjustified statements."
I just always end up disagreeing with you guys because of all the huge exaggerations, myths, theories & unjustified statements

Lewis Hamilton:
I never go with expectations, I go with a target. That is to be at the front, and the ultimate aim to win, which is the mentality I have always gone racing with.
You've got to be on the limit all the time - and I love that, because that's how I love to race.
