Giancarlo Fisichella’s days at Renault could be numbered if recent silly-season speculation is to be believed.

Rumours have emerged of a plan by Flavio Briatore, team principal at Renault, to oust the Italian in favour of Williams’ Mark Webber.

Fisichella’s relationship with Briatore has been a rocky one after being unceremoniously dumped by Benetton in 2001.

The pair’s managerial relationship also came to an end before Fisichella was invited back to Renault at the beginning of this year.

However, hopes of improved relations second time around have struggled to materialise with Fisichella frustrated by reliability and Briatore demanding better results.

Should the move go ahead, which seems highly unlikely at this stage, Fisichella would move to Williams to possibly partner former-Benetton teammate Jenson Button.

Shouldn't this be in the main F1 section?

It wont happen. Williams will not want to get rid of Webber if Button might not join and Fisi wants to stay with Renualt.

I agree with you about Williams, but not sure if Button has a choice. The same goes to Fisi as well.

Why changing Fisi for Webber? I think Fisichella has been really far for impresive this year but so has been Webber... If Williams wants Fisico Renault could change him for JB (that way my two fauvorite drivers would be in my fauvorite team  :P )

Wasn't Webber the one with a more-then-one-year contract @ Williams?

I prefer Button than Webber in Renault

Fisi' deserves more of a chance. Afterall, being team-mate to a possible wdc isn't too easy.

Yeah, Alonso & Button(rather than Webber) in the same team... What a team that would be!

Personally I dont rate Webber much, And although over past seasons I have rated Fisi, I think he's been very dissapointing this season.
