New Aerodynamics???

Hi everyone! can someone tell me what the function of those side plates (on the side pods) of an f1 car is? till now i had just seen it on the bar honda, but the latest pics of the ej 15b had them as well. The ej15b also that that renault like front wings. I'm thinking these things improve the downforce..
i'd be glad if someone can post the "details" of these things..

Which side plates do you mean?  There are a bunch of little "downforce enhancements" as I call them on the side pods, maybe a picture would help?  CLICK HERE because FOM is worried everyone will steal their technical pics and make millions of dollars from them.

ps. whats that passat doing next to the beautiful sharknose?

The help add downforce around the mid area of the car, this is the best area to add downforce as it doesn't change the balance of the front or rear of the car.

thanks.  the passat is there because I can't afford a '64 250 GTO, hehe. ;)
