Has anyone else heard anything more on Toni Kanaan and Paul Tracy's thoughts on joining the A1GP series. I read an article about a week or so ago saying that they had some interest in joining the series. Good news for North American fans, as SPEED might actually pick it up if there were some names that Americans could recognize running in the series.

BTW, did any of the rest of you Cdn CART fans get your name on the Paul Tracy LastLap car in 2003? It was a great opportunity to be part of racing history. I just picked up a 1:18 model of Paul Tracy's LastLap 2003 Forsythe chassis, and there is my name, centred beautifully on the left sidepod - it's quite a thrill knowing that PT actually raced with my name on his car....................

"Schumacher has said he does not want to do anything bad or for anything bad to happen in this race, so I just hope that is what happens for his sake - but this shows how far Ferrari are prepared to go to help Michael win this Championship."

JV - Oct 25, 1997 - after Saturday Practice in the final round of the 1997 championship at Jerez, Spain. The next day would prove just how far Schumi was willing to go...................

Tracy and Kanaan? cool

Was he in a Team KOOL Green car when you had your name on it Funkejay? (thats last team I remember him being in, at the time I think his teammate was Dario Franchitti, but it was a while ago, just after Montoya jumped to F1 I think) Quite a thing to be proud of.

Don't get me wrong demonhorse, I shared the space with about 1200 other names, it wasn't mine alone, but all the same, it's not everyone who's had their name on a championship winning car in a major open wheel series.

It was actually the Players' Forsythe team at the time, and Players sponsored it as a way to thank all the Canadian fans who supported them for all the years they were involved in CART. I don't know if you remember it or not, but Villeneuve also drove for Players' while he was in CART.

Anyway, in 2003 Canadian tobacco sponsorship legislation meant that cigarette companies were no longer allowed to sponsor sporting events or teams, effectively forcing Players out of the series, and they wanted to do something to recognize the fans before they left.

No matter what - it was really cool, and I'm thrilled that I now have a model of the car to prove that my name was carried on his car.

I've attached a pic of the car below, along with a pic of the model (with my name circled - bottom right corner of the pic)....

Exactly, still part of a quite exclusive club... hell I'd be proud even if it was one of 12,000.

EDIT: Just looked at the pic with your name circled, it looks like quite a few people had the ends cut off their name by the livery.... Good job you're not one of those huh? gutted :P

Yeah I read this story as well.  A1GP will only get stronger.  A few more "big" names and it'll be a sweet series.  And since it's in the off season to most of the other open wheel championships, we could get the awesome prospect of having some F1 drivers, Card, IRL and other series all racing together.  That would be awesome.
"Obviously I am pleased to have many fans. Who would not want? But to be honest, I have no idea why people like me."

"Do you really think I would be here if it was just about money?" Raikkonen hit back.  "I do enough fun things in my spare time than to have to listen to this bullsh*t."

"There is always a lot of talk about the motivation but nobody really knows what I do or what I think except for myself, so I don't really care about what people say."

"There's always talk about my motivation, written by people who don't know me and couldn't have an idea on how strong my motivation is. If I didn't feel I had the motivation, I would stop. My feeling is that I probably drove some of my best races in my last season in Formula One and I was very happy with my performance. I've never had any issues with motivation."

Vodka, ice-creams in the garage, rallying, snow-mobile racing, gorilla suit connoisseur, hitched to former miss Finland, James Hunt appeal, a vacant stare, talks like a Dalek, 1970s caps, Elton John glasses and some people call this guy boring? I wish we had more characters like him in F1 Posted Image
