I just hope that the new RB2 will be fast and competitive. I imagine that when Adrian Newey joins Red Bull next week he'll beable to make it afew tenths faster before Bahrain.
a few tenths by Bahrain might be asking a bit much, seeing as the car is largely completed, but we'll see what he can do.....

JV - Oct 25, 1997 - after Saturday Practice in the final round of the 1997 championship at Jerez, Spain. The next day would prove just how far Schumi was willing to go...................

Adrian Newey has managed to get afew tenths out of cars in the past. Remember the McLaren MP4-19, it was a useless car which Newey didnt design but by mid season it was several tenths quicker and could compete (just) for race wins.

check out how deep (front to back) the leading arm of the front wishbone is.....
i would have thought the no keel would have been better, considering the v8's :eusa_think:
maybe by the time they reach baharain ,all that may change

Newey may look at their cars individually??

As DC and Newey know each other well,so they might look for the drivers strengths and play them up,although this would be quite expensive and time consuming. He shoulda come sooner :(

I'll agree that if anyone can, it's Newey.....

Yeah, McLaren have definitely gone the "no keel" route, and it worked gangbusters for them - so don't be surprised if the '07 RB chassis is one of the same. But it's too late to change that for this year - that kind of major revision to the front suspension would have knock-on effects for the entire chassis, so going from a 'V keel' to a 'no keel' could potentially involve changing the design of the entire car, which they don't have the time or resources for.

No, I expect that Newey will do what Willis did in his first year at BAR - improve their engineering practices (to bring the quality, design, fit, and craftsmanship up to Newey's standards) and concentrate on aero improvements throughout the year - while tackling next years design as a clean slate project (which is what he really joined RBR to do).
"Schumacher has said he does not want to do anything bad or for anything bad to happen in this race, so I just hope that is what happens for his sake - but this shows how far Ferrari are prepared to go to help Michael win this Championship."

maybe the SO CALLED "rb2" IS  just an interim chassis, and the actual 06 challenger may well be unvieled  on the 6th of march at baharain, jst a possibility,or maybe you are right
or they could do what toyota did this season i.e. to introduce a "b-spec car" towards the end of the season
jst as a forerunner, and a good augury for the 07 season

Yeah, I'd agree that the RB2 is an interim car, and there will be improvements and developments before Bahrain, but not such a radical change as that..... Of all the scenarios you mention, if they are to introduce a 'no keel' design, I expect that it would come towards the end of the season (a la Toyota), as a test bed for the '07 design.

Newey to focus on RB3 - Horner

Monday, 09 January 2006
Red Bull Racing has targeted fifth in the 2006 constructors' championship, and competing with teams Honda, Williams and Toyota. As team principal Christian Horner outlined his goals for the new season to f1total.com, he also confirmed that technical wizard Adrian Newey will indeed arrive from McLaren to start work on Monday morning. ''Adrian has not been able to influence the RB2,'' Horner said, ''but he will surely play a role in the development of the car in the second part of 2006.'' The Milton Keynes team's boss also confirmed that Newey - chief technical officer - would focus on designing the 2007 racer. But Horner insisted: ''I'm sure that we will notice his influence in the second half of this year.''

That STR looks the nuts! Nothings looked that mean since the Viper/Hornet Jordans of the mid to late 1990's.

I love the tusks off of the sidepods!

Only problem is, with those Red Bull 'BULLS', that car looks like a Lamborghini! Hang on..........Didn't I hear they were trying to sell the team to VW.......

The STR livery is great, very different, especially for F1. The Bull looks mega!

RBR livery looks quite similar.

"You just don't mess with Jacques Villeneuve" - Murray Walker, 1997 Hungarian GP.
"When Jacques was with us, he was a very aggressive driver, fiercely competitive, mentally hard as nails. Very quick with it, very gifted. A bright fellow, undoubtedly, very intelligent. He was an absolutely born racing driver - look at the way he'd bang wheels with Michael, pass people on the outside, that kind of thing" -Sir Frank Williams on Jacques Villeneuve
"This year, with BMW, JV's going very well, and I'm pleased for him. Whether or not he'll get a drive next year I don't know, but I hope he does, he's an unusual, and very strong addition to the F1 community. A character." - Sir Frank Williams again on Jacques Villeneuve
