Ferrari poised to launch 2006 car

Michael Schumacher will hope this year's Ferrari is faster than 2005's

Ferrari are set to unveil their new Formula One car on 24 January at their Mugello test track in Italy.

The 2006 model will be officially launched on that date, but it could be tested privately as early as Monday, according to team boss Jean Todt.

In accordance with new F1 regulations, the new car will feature a lower-powered V8 engine instead of the V10 used last season.

Michael Schumacher and Felipe Massa will race for Ferrari this season.

Rubens to make Honda debut today

The first day of Honda Racing F1 Team's 2006 testing programme began at the Circuito de Jerez in Southern Spain on Wednesday morning where the weather was fine, but very cold initially, meaning that there was little running on track before 11am.

As a result, Anthony Davidson worked through system checks in chassis 078-08 in the early part of the morning before going out on track in warmer conditions to run through basic set-up work and find a good balance in the car. Davidson spent the afternoon session running through a tyre evaluation and completed his full test programme over an impressive 113 laps.

In chassis 078-07, James Rossiter also spent the early part of the morning in the garage completing system checks. Once out on track he ran through a front aero evaluation. Rossiter completed a further aero evaluation in the afternoon alongside a tyre program, completing 105 laps.

Davidson will continue in chassis 078-08 today, with new driver Rubens Barrichello joining the team for his first test. Barrichello will drive the 2005 chassis 007-06 before moving into chassis 078-07.

Are you sure?  That sounds more than a little bizarre.

Its something that the site did, the one you got the image from, not totalf1.

So we have seen the new renault, red bull and toyota toy for 06.

But it seems to me that all the anticipation about a team's new car rests with Ferrari.

Everyone wants to see their new baby. It certainly gets the most attention for a car launch in the media.

Do you feel sorry for Michael in a way?

“Yes, we’d much rather beat him in a straight fight. He doesn’t deserve something like that…”

Thanks for the wonderful moments Schumi. You were controversial, but then again so was Ali, Zidane etc...

The Masters have returned.
"People were being killed left, right and center back then," [Phil Hill] says. "I became hyper-sensitive to the danger, and wasn't sure that I wasn't going to kill myself. As a result, racing brought out the worst in me. Without it, I don't know what kind of person I might have become. But I'm not sure I liked the person I did become, because I was selfish, irritable and defensive."
