De Ferran Raves About Jense's 'unique Talent'

Honda Sporting Director Gil de Ferran has lavished praise on Jenson Button, saluting the Brit's "unique talent".
Button has yet to win a race despite 100 grand prix starts, but de Ferran still believes he's one of the best young drivers around and ranks him alongside the likes of World Champion Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen.
De Ferran, a former driver who won the Champ Car title before moving into team management, revealed close contact with Button has given him a new appreciation of his talents.
"I was a casual admirer of his abilities," he said.
"Now I can see him operating at close quarters and how he deals with the team, I think he is a unique talent.
"He has all the raw materials to go all the way. He has such a fine touch; his driving style is fantastic.
"From somebody that has driven racing cars, I cannot tell you how difficult it is to drive like Jenson drives.
"It's difficult to make it look as easy as he makes it look."
Button's 100 races without a win became a talking point towards the end of last season, but de Ferran has urged his driver not to let the issue play on his mind.
Even though nine-times grand prix winner Rubens Barrichello joined Honda at the start of this season, de Ferran insists Button need not worry about the Brazilian's arrival preventing him from breaking his duck.
"If I was in his position as a driver I would not even worry about it, because his day will come," he said.
"He is so good he should not worry about it. The less he worries about it the easier it will come for him.
"Jenson is quite a mature person. He has got a great deal of mind management; he does that very well.
"Worrying about it is immaterial to your results. It will not make you drive any better or any faster.
"You have to forget outside issues and focus on the job properly.
"Whether he has won a race or not really will not help him decide whether to brake later in to Turn One or not - and it is that simple."
However, de Ferran sees no easy wins this season for Honda - predicting a frenzied battle for World Championship honours.
He added: "We are expecting Ferrari to be very competitive, and I am absolutely sure the teams will raise their game.
"I have no reason to believe McLaren and Renault will have a drop in performance.
"You may see a lot of different winners this season."
Right i know de ferran is biased and not experienced in f1, he is however a racing driver and has won the champ car title so he does know what hyes talking about in that respect. And also unlike fry, he hasnt said ''we will win the championship, we will be the team to beat, im the best boss in the world, i suck men off cos im a prick''
anyway, i though JB's unique talent was that he dosnt stick to contracts!

I don't think Gil is wrong in the above quote. Let's be honest, Button is one of the smoothest drivers out there, which requires a 'fine touch' and should suit these generation of cars. As for the rest of it, well, no Gil, no.

"You just don't mess with Jacques Villeneuve" - Murray Walker, 1997 Hungarian GP.
"When Jacques was with us, he was a very aggressive driver, fiercely competitive, mentally hard as nails. Very quick with it, very gifted. A bright fellow, undoubtedly, very intelligent. He was an absolutely born racing driver - look at the way he'd bang wheels with Michael, pass people on the outside, that kind of thing" -Sir Frank Williams on Jacques Villeneuve
"This year, with BMW, JV's going very well, and I'm pleased for him. Whether or not he'll get a drive next year I don't know, but I hope he does, he's an unusual, and very strong addition to the F1 community. A character." - Sir Frank Williams again on Jacques Villeneuve

I tell my cat and my dog that i love them in perfectly equal quantities. This way, they are both happy.

Music connects people through the unspoken appreciation of something that sounds right. Something that taps into the deepest corners of your soul, making you feel alive. When someone else gets it too and you know they do, it feels beautiful.

Not sure MG! The latest is that my dog is taking a fancy to another owner just because his dog food tastes better. That dirty hound.......he never could make is mind up!
(My cat is happy just to be out of the house that it used to live in. Apparently it used to live with another cat that used to demand all the attention, got the best toys and all the family would fuss around it, whilst he was unloved...Having said that, he is a bit manky and can't run as fast)

Time will tell whether he's worth it.....
How did you know he was with his other family for six years? Good guess. He's grateful, of course but i don't have much respect for him. Apparently although his old family fed him the same cat food he never was as fast as the other cat. That one was and still is purrrrrrfect, geddit?
