Actually, a sense of pride prevails that Indian companies like TATA, Infosys, Wipro and ONGC are among the worlds largest and best run corporations

The economy in india and china is growing at a scary rate - hopefully this will mean that less of them turn up in Britain and get a house straight away whilst the rest of us are stuck on a waiting list

Immigration is a minefield of a subject. Let's not go there. At least not today.

I can see why Mock is playing the patriotism card, it's only natural I suppose, but  surely it has to be (very)secondary to the sport being sponsored. Otherwise you may just as well start a TATA fan club (for example) and spend your days reading their export figures!
I'm proud of what my own country has achieved, but it's irrelevant to me when considering F1 sponsorship. I don't care whether a car is sponsored by Useless and Unaffordable Corporation, Inc., or Fred's Fish 'n' Chip shop. It simply doesn't matter, as long as they pick up the tab.......

ok let me tell you a story(very interesting)
a small industrialist,in a colony goes to a seafacing 5 star hotel in Bombay(100 years ago),gets thrown out because it is not meant for the second class citizens(the colonialists are first class citizens in the conquered land)
.he vows to  start an even bigger 5 star hotel facing the same arabian sea and thus the Taj group of hotels is born.now tell me if this story  makes anymore sense, that the Taj group is the premier  5 star hotel chain of the tata's.

Good for the Taj group, well done, but completely irrelevant to me. I really don't see why you've told that story, as it doesn't challenge any of my views.

just to  indicate that some have an affinity towards somethings that touch their lives, for example some will be very happy if Johnie Walker is sponsoring any team :rolleyes2:

Agreed..

Though I might change my opinion if I manage to get a job with them ;)

It is nice to see the TATA logo displayed prominently on the Williams Car, definitely better than seeing it on a yellow Jordan. Whatever your views, part of the attraction of the livery of a car are the sponsors logos - a car looks quite naked without them.

I remember having a miniature model of an F1 car back in the late 1970's when I was studying in Oxford - One of the things I remember very cleary is that the car was a deep metallic blue, and that the tail fin and the Brooke Bond logo quite prominently feature (Damn, wonder where that thing is now !).

I can't really think of any global british brands - nothing comes to mind immediately.

They’re a British company that sponsored BAR between 2004-2005.  I was just poking fun at your “Way to go TATA !” comment.  No malevolence intended Mr. Mock.

No offence taken, was genuinely interested in Alcon
