Villeneuve Gets Off Lightly for Blocking Fisichella
Written by: Adam Cooper
Nurburg, Germany – 5/6/2006 An angry Fisichella walked down pitlane to confront Villeneuve over the incident. (LAT Photo)
Jacques Villeneuve has been docked just one place in the qualifying order after he was found guilty of impeding Giancarlo Fisichella in the second qualifying session.
Because it could not be proved that the offence was deliberate, Jacques had his three fastest times deleted from the top 10 session, which effectively dropped him from eighth to 10th and last in that group. Because Mark Webber has a 10-place penalty, he automatically gains one of the spots back, and will thus start ninth.
Fisichella was furious when Villeneuve, who was on an out lap, got in his way towards the end of the second session, and for the second race in a row, the Italian did not make it through to the top 10 run-off.
After the session he made his way down to the BMW Sauber pit and remonstrated with Jacques, who was still sitting in the car.
Renault had hoped to see Villeneuve get a much tougher penalty, or at least one that saw Fisi gain a position. The Italian qualified 13th, but will start 11th as Webber and Nico Rosberg both go back.
Takuma Sato escaped censure after an incident involving Christian Klien.
In my opinion, he didn't block him and this is unjust, fisi is just a drama queen

"People were being killed left, right and center back then," [Phil Hill] says. "I became hyper-sensitive to the danger, and wasn't sure that I wasn't going to kill myself. As a result, racing brought out the worst in me. Without it, I don't know what kind of person I might have become. But I'm not sure I liked the person I did become, because I was selfish, irritable and defensive."

I just wish Kimi would start flying again in the McLaren's, otherwise I'll be rooting for a Ferrari switch rather quickly.
"Do you really think I would be here if it was just about money?" Raikkonen hit back. "I do enough fun things in my spare time than to have to listen to this bullsh*t."
"There is always a lot of talk about the motivation but nobody really knows what I do or what I think except for myself, so I don't really care about what people say."
"There's always talk about my motivation, written by people who don't know me and couldn't have an idea on how strong my motivation is. If I didn't feel I had the motivation, I would stop. My feeling is that I probably drove some of my best races in my last season in Formula One and I was very happy with my performance. I've never had any issues with motivation."

Fisi complained and was proved right, good for him
For all the people including Antonia who are saying he did not block, how many have actually seen a video of it?

I have lost all respect for Fisi now and hope he gets sacked. He can't take the heat so it's JV's fault he is down there? No I think not. He has a much faster car and should have set a faster time, end of story!
Now I wonder how many times this is gonna happen when drivers get in the way of others.
I saw the video, Fisi was way behind. Then he got stuck behind in those impossible to pass places. Whats JV supposed to do? pull over on the grass and let Fisi past?

I agree I saw it too and I was thinking where the hell was JV suposed to go. He did not move into Fisi's line or anything like that from what I saw. HEY FIsi it's racing if you are faster than someone else pass them otherwise shut up and quit whining you are supposed to be a formula one driver!! I lost alot of respect for Fisi today too he may be slower than Alonso on the track but he shure is quick getting to the stewards!

In 1958 Fangio decided to retire. His explanation for that was unique:
Fangio: "I came to test my car and after a few laps struggling with my `cache` I asked to my engineer: What did you change in the car?"
The engineer: "the shock absorbers. Why? They pay us to use..."
Fangio: "..so I realize that my time was come. I was the one that were in danger at the track, how could they change anything without asking me before? That was not the sport I like...besides that I'm too old...".
He was 47 and very quick yet...

As someone else said, there is no way he should ever be in this position when you are driving the fastest car on the grid.
The stewards gave JV a light penalty. JV simply didn't think Fisi was pushing hard enough to make a pass. If he would have been on JV's tail then maybe JV would have pulled over.

Expect some cold pizza at delivery,...He's so slow.
He lost it, I wonder if he ever had it anyway.
JPM "I will put you in the wall."
JV responded: "I will put you in the tree"

If Fisi's temperament was ever in doubt, now we know he's feeling the pinch, he totally overreacted and the way he just barged into JV's pit was hilarious. Loved how Jacques just looked and nodded at him as if to say "yeah whatever".
Fisi's lucky JV only lost one spot, otherwise I'd go alot further.

Indeed. It should be quite interesting to say the least.

"You just don't mess with Jacques Villeneuve" - Murray Walker, 1997 Hungarian GP.
"When Jacques was with us, he was a very aggressive driver, fiercely competitive, mentally hard as nails. Very quick with it, very gifted. A bright fellow, undoubtedly, very intelligent. He was an absolutely born racing driver - look at the way he'd bang wheels with Michael, pass people on the outside, that kind of thing" -Sir Frank Williams on Jacques Villeneuve
"This year, with BMW, JV's going very well, and I'm pleased for him. Whether or not he'll get a drive next year I don't know, but I hope he does, he's an unusual, and very strong addition to the F1 community. A character." - Sir Frank Williams again on Jacques Villeneuve
The Nojvnof1 2006 driver lineup - Jacques Villeneuve, Nico Rosberg, Christian Klein, Scott Speed.

Next race, Klien feels he's been blocked by SS, TS feels he's been blocked by CA, MS feels he's been blocked by GF, GF thinks he's been blocked by almost everyone, they all go and complain.
Well done stewards, having rules that say only deliberate blocking is not allowed, then docking someone for non deliberate blocking. Consistant stewarding? I think not.
Fisi "no one likes me" chella needs to realise a thing or two.
