BMW confirms F1.07 launch date
Monday, 27, November, 2006, 11:58
BMW Sauber’s 2007 challenger, the F1.07, will launch on January 16 in Valencia, the team announced on Monday.
The German manufacturer will unveil its second car since taking over Peter Sauber’s team at the Spanish circuit a day after McLaren's 2007 launch, with the new machine also being given its first test run later the same day.
The Hinwil-based-squad, who finished an impressive fifth in the constructors’ championship in its debut season in 2006, has already confirmed its driver line-up for next year, with Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica remaining as race drivers and 19-year-old sensation Sebastian Vettel as third driver.
Meanwhile Heidfeld and Kubica will get back behind the wheel of last seasons F1.06 for the first time since the season-ending Brazilian GP at Jerez on Tuesday, when F1 winter testing kicks off.

Over the course of the three day test the team will use a total of four drivers, including regular drivers Jarno Trulli and Ralf Schumacher, as well as Frenchman Olivier Panis. However, there will also be two new faces on track, Kamui Kobayashi, who will take part in this weeks test and nest weeks session in Jerez, while Kohei Hirate won’t take part in the Barcelona session but will be on hand in Jerez for both test programs before Christmas.
Unlike December last year, when the TF106 was the first new car to be launched, the team will make use of the TF106B for the end of year sessions meaning that the new TF107 will not make an appearance until the new year.

I guess i was wrong. From what i can gather most of the teams will start track testing their 2007 spec car in January.

Wow, even Olivier Panis is making a come back after a brief retirement from testing duties. With rumours floating around that Mika could also make a return to testing. With that in mind I pose the question how long before MS feels that he is missing out!!!!!
Pure speculation I know, but an interesting thought none the less.

It will be very interesting to hear his remarks in regards to how the cars have changed over the five years or so that he has been out of the c#ckpit of a Formula One car.
