Nope not a Brazilian.... The only glitch is that although the driver in questions contract ends at the end of 2007, his current team are not keen on letting him go, but apparently Honda can offer him a better deal than he has with them, or will have.

Yeah, I know... I have so much Honda merchandise its scary.
He's bringing me the sideplate off the back wing of Buttons Honda signed.. Looking forward to that.
A really interesting guy.

ps. watch out for the new Honda exhaust system he told me bout... It exits the car next to the driver. Apparently another team is also using it, and the extra performance it gives is unbelievable!

Hmmm I am not sure how adding extra length to the exhaust pipe and moving the outlet further up in the car will help?

Just out of curiosty how would he know what other teams are doing when none of the teams have had there 2007 spec cars in public yet?

Indeed. Don't the higher revs demand shorter exhaust pipes? I'm sure the Honda engineers know what they are doing, but I'd like details about this!

My guess would be that it helps tidy the air flow out of the diffuser and over the rear of the car

Maybe. Ferrari have experimented, in the past few years, with putting their engine more forward so perhaps Honda is going that route as well. With the engine more forward, the exhaust can be the same length as before, but now exiting further up on the chassis. I would wonder how they are going to cool that engine, as I wouldn't think there'd be alot of room in there for air circulation....

I wouldn't have thought the exit route of the gases would make much difference to their circulation, as that happens after they exit the engine bay, all it means is slightly re-structuring the car's circulatory system.

Only problem with moving the engine forwards is that it kinda ruins the weight bias, and more forwards bias could bog the cars down off the grid.

Sorry, I was unclear about the cooling issue. I meant the circulating air in the engine's compartment, not the engine itself. I'm only guessing Honda would have moved their engine forward. If anyone stumbles across any more info about his, post it please.

It's got me beat what Honda are trying to do here. I'll settle with the theory that they are going to move the exhaust exits forward a little by simply changing the exhaust manifold a little this may help by leaving some room to have a more compact rear end.

If you want to see the result of exhausts further forward, check out the Sauber from last year as that is what they used.

It will however be interesting to see what difference it makes to a fast car (no offence, but the saubers never moved out of the midfield in all honesty)

True, but it does'nt take away the fact that we did it first :P

Many innovations come from the small teams first

It improves performance as much as the poster of the thread claims, that doesn't say much for the rest of Sauber's chassis

I think the new McLaren looks fantastic, although I think the Vodafone sponsor would work well on most cars.

The new Renault is quite ok, it's nice to have a change but isn't very, Wow!

I had a wacky idea about that today, of course this is total speculation but its still fun to speculate. We know Honda tried running their cars with two different paint jobs once but what if they make two totally different paint jobs and paint the car both splitting them down the middle and then the second car could have the same but just flipped sides. Or an even wackier idea. have the entire outside of the car covered in multi colored LEDs and during the race have different advertisements flash up.

I've wondered the same thing. Why is this a rule? I saw no problem with BAR running two different liveries years ago. Maybe it's Max and Bernie's obsessive/compulsive personalities wanting all the teams to look neat and tidy and totally alike. :eusa_think:
