OK guys. Ive found these photo's on the speedtv forum and the poster said that a friend on another forum took the photo's at a recent shakedown at Silverstone. Ive spoken to several people and we are reasonably certain that its real.

PS does anyoe know how to stop the forum reducing the size of the photos as they look strange when reduced as they seem to have a checkered effect.

It looks like real to me, and i think is sad to see that car in Fifi's hand, he won't take out of it everything that car can give, but there is HK probably he will do better than Fifi.

Can you find something about the new Ferrari????

So what do you guys think. What chages have Renault made from the R26 to the R27?

i dont know, something seams fishy to me about these pictures, i cant really put my finger on it though. But if these are real then you can definably see a dramatic change in the side pod/mirror design and the car is also much narrower in the back. I think they will have cooling problems, they have left almost no room for the radiators. as for the nose, what would you call that, id say a Zero keel and the way the upper element is attached to the nose is interesting. The underside of the back end seams to have undergone some changes and looks somewhat odd to me.

Looks wise i have to say the colors are a nice change to something more racy and less babyish, maybe this year they can stop complaining all the time. Conture wise though i have to say it doesn't look that great, new and different yes, but I just don't like it that much, it does get a thumbs up in inventiveness though.

I had the same reaction as it is hard to tell these days will programs like photoshop available. All the people on the SpeedTV forums seem to believe it is real and i PM'ed several people on this forum to ask if they thought it was real. They seemed to believe it was so i decided to post it.

well, i don't claim to be an expert in Photo shop but i do know what i'm doing when using it and i have to say that looking at these for a while now, and in PS, that they look pretty real, the main thing that tells me that they should be real is that the reflections of people are still prominent and not dulled out, also, i cnat find any discolored pixels around the outside which is usually a clue to editing. Of course this can be overcome with a lot of fine tuning and time spent, but i don't see why someone would spend days on these pictures, and since its three its even more possible because it would surly have taken someone a few weeks or more to edit three pictures. and i don't see why someone would spend that much time if we get to find out in a few weeks anyway.

I believe its the real deal.

My first observations are that its definitely not a zero keel as the front top wishbone is mounted too low on the chassis and you can see the front lower wish bone disappearing under the chassis to what I would suspect to be the same "V" keel that they have used for a couple of years now.

Also note the rear upper wing has two ribs running around the undersides of the elements, this is an FIA rule to stop the wings flexing.

This also leads me to believe that the Toyota launch rear wing may not be the real rear wing for the car as it does not have the mandatory ribs.

I thought of that and i decided that the Renault team didnt think  they needed the ING logo's on the car as they didnt expect anyone to take any photo's of it on its shakedown run. There are many places on the car which would usually have logo's but doesnt at the moment.

If thats Piquet Jr in it then yes they are ment to be testing at silverstone (just the straight to do a basic aero shakedown), it seems to fit for me and the new mirrors (very nice!) would be very hard to fake. Great post!

Yes, most notably the wings. Still surprises me that they did not put the logos of its more important sponsor. Well, that does not mean the pics are fake. C21 is right about the trucks, too (wow great attention to detail there!) :)
Anyways, if that's the R27 it is a beauty and still puts Toyota to shame  :mf_tongue:

I was just bored!

You know what I like best?, its the fact that this topic will overtake the TF107 Toyota thread very quickly, and the new Renault hasnt even been launched yet!

Says something doesn't it?

That really goes a long way in helping me decided if these photo's are real as i dont think a person who edits photo's would pay that much attention to the little things in the photo.

Yes it is a very nice looking car. I havent decided if thats because of the livery or the design of the actual car.

I really don't think much of the livery, the old one was much nicer I think. But the mirrors look interesting. Better than the Toyota but I'm looking forward to the new RB3/Super Aguri/Honda/Ferrari/Mclaren most.

Same happens to me for my knowledge about mechanics/aerodynamics is just enought to build a paper plane (and not a very good one) . Nowadays with all the convolutes and little wings and stuff they put and remove all the time, it is even harder to tell the changes actually made at a car for us ignorant pedestrians.   Still, from a profane's point of view I'd say the nose looks very different and so do the lateral air intakes (no idea what's their name in english). The rearview mirrors change is easy to explain. Placed like that give the driver a much clearer and wider field of view (and look really fancy!) Here is one thing that separates Toyota from Renault: style.

Ahhh, Renault, how I missed you these months!

Is anyone else suprised that the Renault engineers allowed someone to take photo's of the R27 when it hasnt even been launched yet as it must have been obvious as the photo's were taken only afew metres from the car. I guess the photos must have been taken by a person working for Renault as no one else would be allowed near the car.

You can call them the radiator air intakes if you want.

Well Renault did have the smallest radiators of any team in 2006.

The radiators are only there to cool the oil and water, so if they are exiting through louvres on the top of the sidepod (which I believe they are) then its no problem.

Just as long as they have enough air flow and heat shielding around the exhausts there shouldnt be too much of a problem.

And also dont forget that we now use a V8 engine, so the intakes can be smaller than pre 06 cars as the engine requires less cooling.

but if you compare them to the r26 the space for the radiators almost looks like the size was cut in half, here is a picture for comparison

And also dont forget that we now use a V8 engine, so the intakes can be smaller than pre 06 cars as the engine requires less cooling.

Well, the v8 engine actually generates more heat than the v10, but it is smaller in the 'compartment' than the v10 so there's more room for air to cool it.

As to the radiator openings, they were in cold and wet conditions and wouldn't need larger openings for the cooling. I would suspect the dry weather set-up to have bigger openings.

I've looked at the photos in Photoshop and am reasonably convinced they are real.

EDIT: Damn, that's a beautiful car.
