Darker blue I was ready to accept but this is bloody aweful. Given previous posts it does look to me like something that was well chewed and eaten then regurgitated, completely spoils the natural lines...screw ING and bring back the light blue liverly so we got something to drool over again.

Why do I feel not happy?
I think I dont like the new livery! I expected something else!
Looks like they wanted to fit the new one into the old one...well...I will have to wait to get used of it...

I do, however, like it simply because it is different from the rest of the field.
Perhaps they were trying to tie it more to Flav's personality - more like the Benneton days - since he is the only real face or personality with the team now that Alonso signed up for reeducation.

"Vettel is a champion. That’s not referring to his achievements, but rather to his approach to everything he does. He wins. All the time. His preparation is meticulous, his attention to detail reminiscent of Michael Schumacher at his peak, and his performance on the track is almost always flawless. Vettel is capable only of domination. He knows no other way... Vettel is not in Formula One to be liked. He is there to win. And in the words of Ayrton Senna, perhaps the greatest of all Formula One drivers, “Nice men don’t win.”"

I like the livery EXCEPT for the blue... If it was black, or maybe white, it'd look great to me.

Puke enducing is the only phrase I can think of!
Its a nice shape but stylish the livery aint!
And Im with rumblestrip on the non greeblie cars.
I just hope they dont go with that awful looking twin rear wing.
I say make the front and rear wings free from regs (to keep the flicker of innovation alive) and demand the rest of the body work be smooth like the cars of the early 90s

EDIT: And what the hell is with Briatore thinking that a powder-blue jacket would look good in that miasma of discordant colours? Well, I guess if you are going to assault the eyes with the car and suits, you may as well go full-tilt and wear the powder-blue....

Briatore's jacket is almost as bad as the one he wore last year.
As for the new livery well it looks bloody horrible, kinder looks like a half eaten Mango & Cream, Ice Cream.
Maybe it will grow on me, maybe it won't.

Yup, I'm a graphic designer (so is BradSpeedMan and ecapdeville). The blue and orange go alright together as they are complimentary (opposite on the colour wheel). Generally blue and orange together will make both colours 'pop' and is quite the attention-getter (so long as they are the same value-which the Renault is). Most ads will use this theory (purple/yellow, green/red, blue/orange) if they want to grab your attention.
The introduction of the black, white and yellow into the blue/orange creates too many different hues. The general rule (if you must use warm and cool colours) is to use only one warm and one cool colour in any given design, but you can introduce lighter or darker values of the two colours you choose. When you add a third colour, you take the risk of creating a visually discordant design. When you put that design on a complex item like an F1 car, it turns into a mess for the eye to sort out.
White and black are usually not taken into account in the two-colour theory as they aren't really colours and tend to be neutral. The Renault livery uses both white and black as shapes and, in doing so, forces you to recognize them as part of the design. This just adds to the miasma of confusion.
People will say they like the livery, but I would wager they are really just focusing on one part of the car. I like the sidepod area, but it's mostly two colours there (yellow and orange with a black pinstriping that separates the two). That area is a good design. Other areas on the car are also good designs, but when looked at as a whole, it sucks.
I'm used to thinking of Renault back in the days of Prost; yellow and black (dark blue?) over white. I think the first design of Daniel's looks the best. The white areas aren't fighting with the yellow for the eye's attention. The second idea of Daniel's is more stark and the orange/blue works fine but the orange is fighting with the white where the yellow wasn't.
Ugh. Long articles have been written about this stuff so my explanations are a poor substitute, but hopefully it's good enough. Maybe Brad or ecap can hop over here and add their opinons.....
