Just wondering if any of our resident graphic designer guru members (and we are lucky enough have a few very talented ones) could slap up a picture of the RA107 covered with images from Google earth and see how good or bad it may look before Honda officially release the livery in on the 26th.

its very unlikely that the new livery will have got in the way of the new cars development, they have a department who deal solely with designing the livery, so dont worry about it
no the  project needs more resources allocated than the original livery .also google earth  images wont come free. and this shows that the marketing of a new product seems way more important than to win the championship, with that honda demonstrate their intent .  :eusa_think:

Seems pictures of this livery have been leaked, but they've disappeared as fast as they emerged on other forums. Haven't managed to see it myself - anyone here see it or save it to their HDD?

Hmmm...I have the opposite reaction to most on that 'Google earth' livery. First, it's a photoshop job, not the actual car. Second, it looks less like the earth and more like verdigris copper or fungal growth. Far better would be to use a BP style yellowish-green over darker green. That would look refreshing, I think.

It is Photoshop (looks like an RA106), but the picture was taken from the official Honda Racing site and spread around the internet.

It was on their webspace but not actually linked into the gallery - someone just changed the image number (to the next in the sequence from the latest photo in their gallery) and found it, posted the link and within minutes the link to the Honda site was dead.

If it is just photoshopped, why does it have a URL, just registered by Honda's marketing company and why take it down and ask people not to display it? :eusa_think:

There must be something behind it.

It was a photoshop taken from the Honda site - it's an "official" Photoshop if you like. That's why it has the URL and that's why it was removed - it wasn't actually "live" on their site, it was just there ready to be linked in as and when. Someone altered the URL and got it.

It was on their site in anticipation of the launch - once it had been found and put into the public domain, they took it down. Unfortunately for them, some people had already saved the photo and have since uploaded it on imageshack and the like.

Hmmm....it may indeed be what the car will look like, then again it may be a stunt distributed by Honda marketing. The guy in charge is the same fellow that does marketing for Girls Aloud isn't he? This seems a clever ploy to get Google earth some publicity.

Another possibility is that it's one of a few mock-up ideas Honda has been throwing around. It may not be the actual livery, but still owned by Honda, thus the request not to display it.

I hope to God they don't use that livery. Horrid. It makes the Renault look almost decent.

Yeah I know - that's what I'm saying. It has that URL on the rear wing because it's an image taken from the offcial website. It's not something someone made up - it was taken from Honda, hence why it has that URL on it.

Ah, no, in my comments I never meant to say some anonymous person made it up! Just that is wasn't on an actual car....sorry for the confusion...

Sorry - I was replying to Kay Zee re the URL on the rear wing.

Maybe you're right - it could just be a ploy by Honda. I sincerely hope it is - it's not a good look.

Wonder if Honda will respond - I find the URL interesting though, registered, but not active at the moment. Wonder what they intend to use it for.
