Honda have a history of trying to go reallly quick during preseason testing. In both 2005 and 2006 they were regularly topping the time sheets in testing but when it came to racing they were off the pace. I can think of 2 options.
1. honda no longer want to top the time sheets in testing which means the times dont matter or
2. Honda have been trying to top the time sheets but there car just isnt quick enough.

LoL! I think they will most likely be sandbagging though - as someone else mentioned, they don't want to top the time sheets and start the season of poorly again - I think the whole team was bitterly disappointed after that and kinda caught out in a slump through the first 1/4 of the season...
Thats how I read it anyway!

The fact that the team will be using Bridgestone this season will improve the teams performance massively... Or so they say!

The fact that they have a double-world champion is sure to do the same thing!

I read an interesting article where Pater Sauber (who was Raikkonens team boss in 2001) said he hopes Ferrari have good knowledge on setting up their 2007 cars themselves as Kimi puts in absolutely no input on car setup.
I would say all the greats of the sport have had a skill in car setup, particularly the likes of Senna and Schumacher who would both spend most the night on race weekends analysing stats and feedback for their setup.
So Mclaren getting Alonso who also has a very good touch for car setup ahead of Kimi who probably goes and gets drunk in his hotel after practice instead is another massive boost!

Jenson Button has enthused about Honda's new RA107 car, despite being spotted broken down at the side of the track on Thursday at the Valencia group test.
"The new car feels very good indeed," he said. "We are going to put many miles under its wheels before the first race and try to develop the car prior to the season."
His Brazilian teammate, Rubens Barrichello, is also upbeat, but cautioned that there is "a lot of work to do" before the green lights shine.
"The car is already on the same pace as last year's chassis, despite not having all of its development parts yet," Barrichello, 34, added.
"From my laps this week, I really enjoyed the feeling of the car."

Button blanks 'green Honda' rumour
Jenson Button has refused to comment on rumours that his Honda might be painted green this year.
The Japanese squad revealed its 2007 car, the RA107, in an interim black livery, amid suggestions that Honda could adopt the new colour to reflect an overhaul of the company's environmental policy.
Brackley-based Honda is also searching for a fresh image after the team's former sponsor and part team-owner British American Tobacco pulled out of the sport. Green has not been used as the base for a grand prix car since Jaguar quit in 2004.
Button, 27, said whilst testing at Valencia: "I don't mind what colour the car is as long as it's fast!"
Honda's final livery will be revealed at a separate event prior to the season opening Australian grand prix.

Aren't there quotes from people who recently worked with Kimi (and even Jean Todt) that say essentially the same thing as Sauber?

I don't know...I think I prefer them taking time to get it sorted instead of blistering the time sheets like they've done in the past....in those cases they couldn't deliver that speed when the season started and suffered for it.

Hmm...since we're in the era of creating sport and entertainment, why not make a rule that all cars must post a time on a set fuel level, then publish those times.....
