Aguri to launch new car in March

Aguri head into the new season looking for their first F1 point
Super Aguri will officially unveil their new car just six days ahead of the opening Formula One Grand Prix of the 2007 season in Australia.
The SA07, which will be driven by Briton Anthony Davidson and Japanese star Takuma Sato, will be launched in Tokyo on 12 March.

Toro Rosso are the only F1 outfit yet to announce their plans.

Super Aguri joined the F1 grid as the 11th team last year and failed to score a point in their debut season.

They might as well just launch it at free practice 1 in Melbourne... Either way no one is really gonna take much notice.

Well I would take a bit more notice if I didn't think they were going to keep the car looking, and probably driving exactly the same.

I know it's fun to throw tomatoes at Suzuki's little team, but they did a good job in '06 for a small team using an outdated chassis.

Agreeded which is why the only interest I can think of with their 2007 car will be if its the Honda's 2007 or 2006 car, other then that I'm more interested in what they do on the track then the details of thie car because they wont be on the cutting edge.
Won't see anything new or interesting with customer chassis so no brew-ha-ha about them.

Agreed. Not fashionable to say this but I think Aguri San means to stick around. I applaud what he's done so far.

Agree, at least they are likely going to use last years Honda and not the new RA107. Which makes me think, Mr. Suzuki must have been shown the design of the RA107 and said stuff buying the rights to that bucket of bolts, I'll place an order for two RA106 please Mr. Fry. Or Mr Rye if you imagine him saying that in a Japanese accent

Quote

Super Aguri's plans to launch its 2007 car before the Australian Grand Prix rests on a repeat this week of the FIA's mandatory crash tests.

The Japanese team's contender, the SA07 - which is a development of Honda's works 2006 car - apparently failed the tougher rear impact tests, and possibly the side crash tests, one month ago, days before announcing that the new car would only be unveiled in Tokyo on March 12.

It is understood that the car features modifications to the sides of the c#ckpit and the rear structure, principally to adhere to the more stringent FIA tests.

It is already being suggested that the news might precede Super Aguri using its 'interim' test car in Australia, as the Leafield based team fends off the legal threats of Spyker and Williams amid the 'customer car' furore.

The interim car is near identical in appearance to the 2006 Honda RA106 chassis.

Sure are leaving it late though.

What I expected though, not too much improvement on last year but let's hope that it's enough to get a point.

It is a good looking car but I still dont like the fact they and STR are just bumming a ride from other teams. It defeats the whole perpous of the rules. In the 60's and 70's you were allowed to buy cars, now you arn't

i agree with you (and Frank Williams), all teams should have to design their own chassis. What are they competing for by entering someone elses's design? Its not fair

The whole basis of F1 is that it is a competition to pit the world's best designers against each other. Now it seems to have became more and more, an exercise of having as many sponsorship logos circulating as possible so that bernie can make a few more million bucks that hes never gonna spend in the short time he has left

Someone should lol because it is getting very stupid. Just bring back slicks and V10's and see some real speed :D

The joke is that the cars get tremendous grip on slicks, the steps the FIA took to slow the cars down with grooves was what made them more unsafe
