theyre start to the season has been amazing. apart from heidfelds mistake in the pits at spain, they have made no mistakes. BEST TEAM IN THE CONTEST. but they are overshadowed by Hamilton. i say put him in the BMW alongside heidfeld and see what happens!

Wait a minute.........

In another post you suggest Kubica is the reason BMW is doing so well...

View Postkubica, on May 22 2007, 05:40 AM, said:

you think im crazy but i think im right. The BMW underachieves compared to the Maclaren.THIS IS WHY hamilton is so great. But Kubica has made such great progress advancing from averageing 7th - 11th last season to nearly 4th or 5th everytime.

....but in this one, you are suggesting BMW is the reason Kubica is doing well....  :eusa_think:

BMW look good so far, but there are alot of races yet to accumulate a goodly amount of DNFs....

Do you have a tv? If you do you know it wasn't Nick's fault. Plus if it was Nick's fault then, was also Kubi's fault for his poor results on first races, like when gear box broke, for example. ;) I don't think none of the two drivers actually had a major mistake that costed a race. Both (as you said) are doin' pretty good.
Back to the point, yeah... BMW is having an awesome season, and I see they're the only team close to catching Ferrari and McLaren on track. Not on championship due to these technical failures. But I think getting the 3rd in WCC after just one season as a team, is just an awesome result. I think BMW will b fighing for a championship soon if they keep on improving like that.

Yeah there is no way that the pitstop bungle was Nick's fault. Nick did a great job IMO to do a lap without the wheel coming off!!

BMW have been the best of the rest no doubt, but it will be interesting to see if they can keep up with the pace of development of McLaren and Ferrari to keep the status quo or will they struggle and slowly fall into the upper midfield battle with Red Bull, Williams and Renault. Telling times ahead for BMW - Sauber.

It's not their first season. They are still Sauber, but with increased money, more depth of talent and different management. Realistically, they have gone from about 5-6th (on average) in the championship to 3rd. A good jump, but nothing to call 'awesome'. Awesome would be Super Aguri last season in an old Arrows chassis racking up the 5th and 7th fastest laps in Brazil (?).

BMW's slight jump in form is down to the BMW people using the Sauber windtunnel more effectively than did the Sauber people. Quality control has also been improved as you would expect from having an infusion of BMW engineers into the development process. The actual 'race team' hasn't changed much, however. The same Sauber guys are doing the pit stops and assembling the cars for each race. The same Sauber guys are figuring out fuel strategies and the same Sauber guys are designing the chassis.

Hear hear!

But believe it or not, there arent that many "BMW" guys in Hinwil.

Most of the new staff are from other teams or completely new to the job.

Yup, that's the reason why Nick "outqualified" Robert in the first two races. Robert's chief engineer is a rookie, and that's who sets up a strategy for qualifying. Then, of course, we had Robert in a t car for the third race. In Barcelona, when both were driving relatively similar cars, Kubi outqualified and outperformed Nick, although just by a hair...

The software allowed the gears to crunch at maximum revs.

shutup about barcelona qualifying!!

the ONE little thing you cling onto is that Kubica started ahead of Heidfeld on the grid - COMPLETELY ignoring the fact that Heidfeld was a lot heavier.
