No they didn't. That is a flat out LIE on your part. It might be the case that this car is a total clone of a Ferrari, but McLaren have never admitted as much, as you well know.

You are no better than Ron Dennis!

The smile you put on my face, my friend. It is a "LIE" to claim that I said that "this car is a total clone of a Ferrari".

But, let us laugh together. Your understanding, then, is that the three areas that McLaren alluded to do not have anything to do with the development of the car. As is the case of the other maccamaniac, your belief is that these "areas" have to do with.... what exactly? And if they have nothing to do with the car, why "stop" development on them?

I will ellaborate.

No, I don't want you to shut up, Kerry, quite the contrary!

I didn't mean it in a derisive way, sorry if it seemed that way. They really are funny. Don't take me wrong, but you seem like Kimi posting on a forum. Really short phrases. Yet somehow, people have misunderstood your posts and you got in the middle of a discussion. It just looks funny from this perspective.

By the way, welcome to the forums! :D

How ironic that Lewis turns 23 today, he will carry the number 23 for the 08 season and the car is the MP4-23

Maybe Ron is planning to ask the FIA to change the entry list or he has lost the plot along with me!!

Here is the correction to Ron's mess up at the launch.

Hamilton to wear number 22, not 23, in 2008
10 January, 2008

Despite recent comments to the contrary made by team boss Ron Dennis, Lewis Hamilton will compete the 2008 season with the number 22 on his car. Due to the penalty imposed on them as a result of the Stepney Spy Saga, McLaren were excluded from the constructors' championship, thus relegating them to the bottom of the list.

The official FIA entry list credited McLaren with numbers 22 and 23, with Hamilton at 22. “[Lewis] is 23, it is the MP4-23 and he will carry [number] 23 on the car,” Dennis said at the launch of the MP4-23 in Stuttgart on Monday.

However, a McLaren spokesperson confirmed to Manipe F1 that Lewis will carry number 22. “Lewis's car will have the number 22 this year as per the FIA entry list. We launched with the 23 as it tied in well with the fact that the car was the MP4-23 and it was Lewis's 23rd Birthday.”

It is certainly not a LIE that you have no clue as to what you just said.

McLaren has never admitted to building this car using stolen data as you claimed in one of your previous Dennis-like obfuscations. They have admitted stealing data. They have admitted building this car. They have not admitted building the car using stolen data.

They may have built the car using stolen data. However they did not ADMIT to building the car using stolen data.

See the difference? Didn't think you would.

I'm bored at work and this is a good displacement activity. I'll stop once we have more to talk about  :P

Alternatively I could talk about the car I suppose. Erm. It looks like an F1 car. It's quite shiny. Erm.

This would be funny if what follows was not downright dumb.

"We would respectfully suggest, however, that despite our embarrassment that pieces of Ferrari information may have penetrated our organisation beyond our previous belief, the inspection has not reached any conclusion that McLaren used Ferrari confidential information on the 2007 or 2008 car (subject to issues as to the deployment quickshift, fast fill or CO2 as a tyre gas for 2008, in respect of which see below)"

How can I not laugh, indeed.

McLaren took the prize for the most unusual looking new development in testing on Thursday, as the team tried out an extended front rim shield design at Jerez in Spain.

Several teams ran front shields last season, their primary purpose being to direct the hot airflow generated under braking away from the wheels and underneath the car. However, the function of McLaren’s latest design looks to be somewhat more complex.

Rather than being contained entirely within the circumference of the wheel rim, the MP4-23’s latest shields feature a section that extends forwards to form a kind of fairing that sits parallel to the tyre sidewall.

The question really is, how far can/will they go with this design? I recall many teams last season saying it was illegal when Ferrari brought it out, but the FIA said nope, its all fair game, wont be long till we have entire aero pieces covering the wheels at this rate!

Still, will make for interesting wheel to wheel racing, maybe they load a spike in the device? :P
