Panasonic Toyota Racing pre-season event to be shown live on-line

03.01.2008

Panasonic Toyota Racing is pleased to confirm it will broadcast live coverage on the internet of its pre-season event on Thursday 10 January from the team’s technical centre in Cologne, Germany.

To ensure all media and fans do not miss a minute of the official unveiling of the new TF108 car, the event will be shown live on www.toyota-f1.com from 10.30 until around 11.10.

As well as the unveiling of the new TF108, top management from Toyota Motor Corporation and Panasonic Toyota Racing will be joined by race drivers Timo Glock and Jarno Trulli and third driver Kamui Kobayashi on stage to discuss the 2008 season.

Source: www.toyota-f1.com

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I assume that the launch time of 10.30 - 11.10 is Central European Time, as the launch is in Cologne, Germany.

I've made the Toyota website a link in the article for everyone's benefit :D

I'm expecting that Toyota will live upto their promise and deliver a complete new design concept for the TF108.

They need to in all honesty, the current evolution is nowhere aero wise and completly different compared to what other teams are enjoying success with. The straight lines of the previous years Toyota's don't work anymore and never really have, I really hope this new Toyota will have the Ferrari / McLaren like coke bottle shape with flowing lines with sculptured sidepods not the box's that Toyota stick on the side of the car and call sidepods!

The TF107's front wing philosophy clearly works, as it's design has been endorsed so to speak by Ferrari virtually copying the design. So you can imagine that this part of the car will probably have little change.

Fingers crossed for a beautiful TF108 :D

I wish them luck even though Im not a Toyota fan, just cause I'd like to see Trulli get another podium or two before he retires

Edit- Thanks for posting a link!

Gotta second that. It is a pity Trully didn't get a chance with Alonso's Renault. Heck, even the way he was phased off Renault stung.

It aesthetically looks a lot more pleasing than the previous model. Some positive feedback on the developments so far (aerodynamically), so hopefully it can come together for this outfit and they can find some more consistent results.

Hmmmm :eusa_think:

I was expecting a little more I must admit, but all in all this just the launch model so we might have to reserve judgement till the car hits the track in Melbourne.

The sculptured sidepods are a improvement good to see Toyota finally getting the hint these are more efficient in moving the air around the sides and over to the rear wing. They have adopted the Renault like sidepod buffers with the rear view mirrors incorporated and ditched their front wing design after Ferrari copied it in order to run with the McLaren inspired bridge wing.

Back to sleep for me more discussion on the TF108 tomorrow.

The TF108 has also conformed to the Bridgestone favoured longer wheelbase.

I hope Toyota have more success than usual, which shouldn't be too difficult to achieve. The new car looks...OK.

A significant improvement.

I like it.

Wow! While not exactly a great departure from the Toyota norm, it is quite surprising.

I was expecting the usual soapbox racer they always produce. Maybe they have finally realized that they should try something different.

Or perhaps this is only the launch version, and they are going to add the angular bodywork in time for Melbourne.

Ps, did anyone notice in the second picture that the car is missing an exit panel on the engine cover?

I don't know, sure its a departure from what we have see from toyota but instead of being a box on wheels it is now a box with rounded edges on wheels. it will probably still drive around just ahead of FI and SA
