Quite an unimpressive evolution for me, basing this purely on looks... Maybe it'll have lots of little changes I haven't noticed or tat we can't see... Or that they're already producing for it.... Or maybe it'll just be quick and reliable from the get go, but I'm not holding my breath there.

Well I wasn't expecting a lot, but this is even less than I was expecting. The aero package appears too simple. It's like the team has run out of time to give it the love and attention to detail that it needs. Sure development will have progressed come Melbourne, but I can't help but think Red Bull are already languishing behind their competitors...

Of course we'll have to wait and see how it performs when those wheels are actually turning!

Another that I look forward to and another with substantial resources to make significant gains. Though I don't expect very little aesthetic change.

My apologies Bathurst1000 on an earlier post. My understanding is clear as to why you questioned that.  :D

Its should have read. Though I do expect very little aesthetic change.

On the RB4 and my first and brief look, it looks quite nice, looks quick. In due time I'll apply a more detailed look.

Somebody got confused and posted pics of last year's launching? No, wait, Coulthard looks even older. Must be this year's.

Remember everyone that the MP4-21 (2006) wasnt a very quick car and then came the MP4-22 (2007) which looked almost identical to the 2006 model and yet it was a extremely competitive car which almost won the championship.

To comment on the remark on Coulthard. As long as he witholds the required motorvation and determiantion for success I see no reason why he shouldn't there. With that said I comment as its an interesting topic and one that may be more suited to the general f1 section, but I ask, whats the general opinion on age in Formula One?

That looks pretty identical to me.

I like the new racing overalls though.

9 and 10 are better numbers too!

Meh, bit boring with no change to really discuss.

As I expected really. Adrian will refine this concept over a couple of years as he did whilst at Mclaren. The focus as has been discussed here would have been on the reliabilty side of the car more than the aero. The RB3 was very aero efficient anyway. I do expect some aero changes to filter through before Melbourne but nothing drastic I'm afraid.

I've noticed so far:

The RB4 has the rear view mirrors placed back out on the very outer edge of the sidepod unlike the RB3 ended 2007 (Mark and David did complain about them being out there on the RB3 at the start of the 07 season, Maybe they don't expect to be looking in them quite as often this year!!).

The side pods look a little more undercut at the bottom compared to the RB3.

The RB4 has gone to a three element front wing.

They have retained the F2007 like sidepod wings on th RB4.

The mid wing is also there as has become a trend.

The RB4 has a long chimmey like the MP4-22 that extends almost the length of the sidepod.

No wheel fairings at this stage :o

That's all I've noticed at a quick glance. More tomorrow no doubt.

It won't break down today whilst David is at the wheel it's tomorrow when Mark jumps in that the problems will start

Mark Wbber is like kryptonite to F1 teams. No matter what team he joins they suddenly become incredibly unreliable and as soon as he leaves their reliability picks up.

1) With the engine freeze and the ridiculous aero rules, there isn't much excitement on any of the cars, some cars might improve drastically, some others not, but the feeling that they are really totally new state of art cars is lost. :(

2) @2//horns: I was just joking. I already said something about this issue in some other thread a while ago. I think the old guys are very important in F1. No matter how fast or slow they are, they have something priceless that no new wonderboy can bring: experience. Coulthard, Fisi, Trulli, Rubinho, they are all in the average good guys, and they can share their knowledge with the young ones. Without them, the new ones would probably crash before crossing the starting line.

Or a horn  He looks about as underwelmed about the new car as we are! But I agree with what Aussie said about Newey refining his design over time. The RB3 showed potential last year, no need to completely redesign the next car. Reliability should be the primary focus, aero second.

I'm sure this isn't the first time he has seen the car, and how happy would you be standing in front of photographers for ages?

this car has many internal/suspension/gearbox/hydraulic/fuel tank and dampener positioning changes

the overall theme is the change in weight distribution and thats what will bring this car its speed!!

Well the RB4 did break down with David behind the wheel after all. Maybe it's a sign that Marks curse has left him
