Is it just me or was the RA107 Honda F1's chassis last season??

I see failure about to happen. Why is there no get out of jail free clause in the contract for SA in case the cars suck? Bad management!

My two cents  ^_^
Least imaginitive name. Ever.

How about this one then, a turbo with the wastegate wide open untill the driver presses the boost button, then the wastegate returns enough boost to make another 75bhp for 8 seconds.  Standard ECU to prevent abuse. Monitored constantly. Only allowed to use it if there is a car close in front, and a penalty given if the driver doesn't make an attempt to pass. We like?

They probably bought it on eBay - going cheap...

At least the colour scheme does not look like a cat has thrown up on it.

And we have confirmation they will race this car from where?

Exactly.  They, just like Honda, are still testing the RA107-whatever befor the RA108 is launched

It does seem exceptionally strange if SA were to take that car on, it would be easier, and better to take the chassis they were using last season. At least teams couldnt complain they arent a constructor then as the chassis was purchased and updated in house...

Although, who actually cares? Not like SA will get anywhere until they get some better funding, that damn SS airlines or whatever should be made to pay :-(

The RA107 was by seasons end faster than the SA07 (RA106). SAF1 would be silly to choose to keep running the SA07 (RA106) IMO.

Let's see waht happens.

Yeah, i think they should just continue with last years body, and not take the new(2007) chassis from Honda...

Well, I do not have confirmation that they will race with this car this season. I highly doubt that they would still be trying out different chassis in January.

Fair enough, I guess.  I don't watch F1 or follow the news, but I recall they were going to run customer cars...

Honda won't give them the 08 model... Noway they'll be loving the fact that SA are screwed for 08, so they shouldn't be being beaten by them. I wish Aguri would get some god damn sponsors, he should have been able to get more than they've had easily. If they had that, they could hire more people and build their own chassis!

I agree 100% with both points - Honda the team will love nothing more than to screw SAF1. How much Honda the corporation want to screw SAF1 might be another matter.

Of course we are assuming that the 2008 Honda challenger will be better than their last year's car, which is by no means guaranteed!!!

It may actually be a wise thing that SA have done!!

It could be possible Force India will not be backmarkers this season, and would be replaced by SA...

i have hope in FI, esp with the increase in technical team and the huge infusion of cash, i think they may challenge STR and SA somewhere from midseason onwards...

I hope FI do well too. SAF1 will be an achievable target to beat in 2008 IMO.

They were in 2007, in 2008 lets see...

For half of 07 they had Honda coop but then it went downhill... I have my doubts abt SA doing well this season...

Whatever chassis SA end up with, they have the people to make it work....and Jordan/Midland/Spyker/ForceIndia do not.

How so?? Rumor has it, Aguri had to sell 50% stake to Agag to survive...

Honda are disowning it, coz Sato can beat them....

Here's a link to SA's website, listing their personnel. Quite a bit of good people there, I think.

Who buys or sells the team is not as important as the people they employ.

Daniel Audetto and Mark Preston are key people for Super Aguri. Force India do have Mike Gascoyne, but there has not been any significant improvements in the team. Maybe Force India would be even slower without Gascoyne. I do not think Force India will improve very much this season. They may get faster, but will continue to be the slowest team.

Half of what makes a team is smart ownership.

The other half is the personnel.

You can have all the good people, but crap owners will zap the team dead.

As AR5 said above, change in ownershipe destabilises the team, you don't know how much finances will be there next season and ussually preparation on next years car is on hold, since ownership is unconfirmed...

FI i think has finally got some stability in ownership with Mallaya as it will be a huge media farce if FI doens't compete in the Indian GP, where he has said he wants a podium...

Force India recently hired Mark Smith and Ian Hall, who i think are pretty good. i am not sure on how good personell are, so i am willing to take your word...

They also have Colin Kolles

You say a change in owner ship destabilises a team, then say you think FI now has stability? They're the ones who just changed though! SA sold shares, they didn't change anyones positions.

Yup. In the long term(5years), i can see FI surviving, SA i see getting fully sold off.. A few shares worth 50 % is a lot my friend. It involves change in Board of Directors and maybe more accountability which both teams need....
