I can see alot of differences from the R27. So hopefully this car is a Title contender.

And I see Alonso changed his Helmet. I like it.

Well, yes...the "angry fruit salad" livery is not the best. But it's a Renault!

I wish they've used the blue livery they showed last year before the official launch.  With a car like that, it would be immoral to support any other team.

And I am saying this in a purely objective way, of course.

@Ankit:  Nope, just the car. I am a fan of Nando, but my heart belongs to Renault.

I dont get why people don't like the new livery, I find it much better then the old baby blue. Before it looked like it belonged in kindergarden. I love the orange

"When you have your first day with a new car, you always have to take your time to check that all the systems are functioning correctly, and that is what we did today," said Alonso. "We were able to lengthen our runs little by little and ended the day with a 17-lap stint. Everything went well, but it is still too early to try and compare our performance with that of other teams, and that was not the objective today. The good news is that we encountered few problems, and we will be able to continue our work tomorrow."

Renault technical director Bob Bell commented, "Today has been very successful. We completed just under 40 laps and the car ran pretty much trouble-free â€" that is about as good a first day as you can expect with a new car. We would have completed our first run pretty much on time if it had not been for the weather, and I think that's a real tribute to the whole factory and all the hard work that has been put in to get this car here today. Overall, a really positive first day's work."

I have to agree.  Being tied in points with is not equal to being floored by, and Ferrari fans have a strange tendancy to forget.

Anyway, I like the Nandonator's new helmet.

I've got to agree that for me, the blue and yellow is a much nicer combination.

I'm with you on that - if you recall once before Benetton dabbled with orange when Flymo were one of their sponsors, but it was just so much more subtle. For me, this is one of the ugliest paintjobs in F1, not forgetting the Earth Car, of course - those and the red Winfield Williams (yuk).

Classiest were Sauber's lovely black car (first year), JPS Special (all black and gold) and the first year McLaren went all silver.

With my very very UNtrained eye, I can't see much of a difference between this year's and last.

There is a bit less dark blue on the car and there is some new wing to comply with legislation. Fernando's helmet obviously and that's about it.

Nothing too wrong with that. Nice no. 5 on the car...might be no.1 soon...

Yes, the sidepods do look different. I like this year's design. Makes it look like a combat airplane!
I don't think the R28 is still a real title contender, but I am confident that it will trash the BMWs. A single victory this year would be a realistic objective, taking in account last year's performance.
And let's not forget that Renault is a team that keeps evolving the car continuously.

Above all that, add 6/10ths a lap gained thanks to Nando... *runs away, avoiding the stones thrown at him*

@angie: so, you decided to post again! :P

That is not a good sign as 1 thing the French arnt good at making is combat aircraft. If the R28 looked like a giant Pastry then then it would be a quick car.
