Mercedes and McLaren reveal launch dates

F1 Test, Jerez, Circuit Permanente de Jerezes

McLaren has become the first team to confirm the date of the launch of its new F1 car, named the MP4-29. Mercedes AMG meanwhile look set to hold a low profile launch immediately before testing.

McLaren confirmed they will hold an online launch on Friday 24 January, 4 days ahead of the start of the first winter test at Jerez. The team's launch will take place at noon UK time.

At the same time, Mercedes confirmed to roll-out its new W05 at Jerez on 28 January "without a launch event before that date". Just like in 2013, the team is expected to showcase its car early in the morning, just before testing commences at the Spanish track.

While Lotus already said not to be present at the test because their E22 will not be ready in time, other teams are also likely to delay their launch as far as possible, trying to get as much work done as possible before starting on-track testing.
