Horner confident RB10 will be sorted

Red Bull Racing's team principal Christian Horner is confident Adrian Newey and his team of engineers will soon iron out the problems that the RB10 showed at Jerez.

Red Bull was in the eye of the storm at Jerez where the team failed to do reliable laps throughout the entire Jerez test. In 4 days, the team completed just 21 laps. While the Renault engine package surely was part of the problem, the team faces more issues than other Renault runners, even though Toro Rosso was equally troubled towards the end of the test.

Horner though said to SkySports that Newey and himself decided to leave Jerez early to be able to have more time at the factory to resolve the issues.

"Obviously there is quite a bit to do but there is still a fair bit of time before the first race."

He also mentioned that while Jerez was not dramatic, a repeat at Bahrain would be troublesome.

"The Bahrain test is an important test and everyone is working very hard at Renault and at Milton Keynes. We certainly don't want another week like Jerez but that's what testing is for. You sort your problems out in testing so not to have them at the races."

Horner declined to point the finger at Newey, saying it was a shared responsibility between Red Bull and Renault. Adrian Newey's push for aerodynamic efficiency however has often proved to go a little bit too far. A particular worry may be how the car was overheating at Jerez where ambient temperatures were at 15°C, whereas some races may be run at more than 35°C.

According to Horner however, the problems are not major, even though it looked differently: "These cars are so complicated that little problems can cause big failures."
