F1 Test, Bahrain, Bahrain International Circuitbh

Lotus is confident it's on the right track as Pastor Maldonado completed the final day of the first of two four-day tests at the Bahrain International Circuit with 59 timed laps completed and a best lap time of 1min 38.707secs.

Pastor Maldonado, E22-01: “We gained a lot more laps today and it was good for me to get time in the car. There was a lot of work with different settings, aero runs and similar which meant there was quite a lot to think about, but I think it all went well. The car was much more reliable which has helped with our work and hopefully it’s a good sign for next week.”

Alan Permane, Trackside Operations Director: “Today was much better for us and we’ve been able to go through a lot of different aero assessments as well as mapping and settings work with the new drivetrain. We did have a few glitches which stopped us but these were quickly rectified with software and electronic resets. We’re still very early on in our understanding of this car and we clearly have a lot of work to do, but today has been our most productive day so far.”

Pastor Maldonado will drive for the first two days of the next test at Bahrain International Circuit, commencing on February 27.
