Pastor Maldonado concluded the two day Barcelona test on top for Lotus, setting a best time towards the end of the day while running on the super soft tyre. Nico Rosberg, who was fastest since noon, improved his time but ended nearly a second off of the Venezuelan's effort.

It became a much busier day than yesterday, with both Maldonado and Rosberg completing 102 laps. Rosberg started the day with a new megaphone exhaust before reverting to a conventional exhaust before noon.

Stoffel Vandoorne in the McLaren became the busiest man on track, completing 135 laps while on testing duties for Pirelli, as well at Daniel Juncadella in the Force India.

Kimi Raikkonen made up for the lost time on Tuesday and completed 93 laps, finished third fastest ahead of Esteban Gutierrez in the Sauber. Susie Wolff was fifth fastest but spun off in the gravel trap in the morning session.

Both Red Bull teams got off the mark slowly with Vettel only starting his testing day a few hours late. He still completed 72 laps but ended the day 3.1s down on Maldonado. Daniil Kvyat was even worse off as his Toro Rosso came to a halt twice along the track.

Caterham F1 finally did not come into action today due to chassis damage caused by Kamui Kobayashi's crash on Tuesday afternoon.
