Restructuring Caterham confirm management changes and staff departures

Albers confirmed as Team Principal as John Illey takes Technical reins

Caterham have confirmed their new-look management structure following the struggling team’s recent takeover along with the departure of a “number of employees”.

Since the ownership of the Leafield team changed hands on the eve of the British GP from Malaysian businessman Tony Fernandes to a consortium of Swiss and Middle Eastern investors the new team at the helm, which are being advised by former F1 Team Principal Colin Kolles, have started to look at ways of cutting costs and improving the team’s on-track performance.

Following reports in recent days that around 40 members of staff had subsequently been released, Caterham confirmed in a statement that an unspecified number of employees had departed, a move the team describe as a “necessary step taken by the new owners of Caterham F1 Team whose priority is the future of the team”.

Meanwhile, following the simultaneous departures of much the team’s previous management hierarchy, the new-look outfit have confirmed Christijan Albers in the role of Team Principal and Manfredi Ravetto in the joint role of General Manager and Deputy Team Principal. Former Force India Head of Production Simon Shinkins joins as Chief Operating Officer.
