Romain Grosjean is confident Lotus can retake fifth in the constructors’ championship, despite Force India finally debuting their 2015 car at Silverstone this weekend.

The Enstone squad slipped behind Force India, who have been running essentially a modified 2014 car during the first part of the season, after scoring just six points with Pastor Maldonado in Austria.

However, Grosjean is confident Lotus still have the pace and is sceptical as to just how 'new' Force India’s car will be.

“I think so, they scored a good chunk of points in Austria with the two cars in the points so they overtook us in the constructors’ championship, but I’m sure we can bounce back and hopefully get that fifth position,” the Frenchman said.

“Let’s see if there is any big difference, we will see if they have a big upgrade or not. You always know where you are, but you never know what the other people have brought.”

Just twice this season have both Lotus cars made the finish, but Grosjean feels with better reliability they should be targeting at least seventh in every race.

“At the start of the season it was fine, but then we had a gearbox issue in Barcelona, then the grid penalty in Monaco, then Canada I made a mistake and Austria we were aiming for good points, but we broke the gearbox again,” he added.

“We have had a few issues, but I am sure we will find some fixes and the positive is that the car is capable of doing P7 in the race, so if we do finish then seventh and eighth is possible.”

Grosjean has scored just one point in the last three races, 11 fewer than team-mate Maldonado.
