Pressure doesn't hurt us - Ferrari

Ferrari F1 team principal Maurizio Arrivabene and star driver Sebastian Vettel insist they can handle the pressure from Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne. Arrivabene went as far as saying he doesn't expect anything else from a president.

Ferrari has been the hot topic since the start of the winter testing as the Italian team was deemed to become the serious title contender for the dominant Mercedes team. However, Ferrari has failed so far to mount a real title challenge: a streak of racing incidents and reliability problems prevented the team from showing its real pace.

FIAT-Chrysler and Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne insisted before the Spanish GP that he expected his team to up its game and end its winning drought.

Team boss Maurizio Arrivabene conceded that he fully understands the president's desire and will and would not expect anything else from him.

"I would be worried if a president came to us and said we should go to Russia or Barcelona and finish second," he told to Autosprint.

The charismatic Italian added that even team founder Enzo Ferrari would expect the same.

"I don’t think Enzo Ferrari would have said such things either."

Ferrari's leading driver Sebastian Vettel said that that Marchionne's pressure doesn't hurt the team.

"He (Marchionne) talks to us internally, it is not just what is written in the newspapers.

"So this does not affect us in the way you may think."

Asked if the team needs any motivating force, Vettel replied that they are all very commited.

"He is our president, but also a big fan who wants Ferrari to win. We all have ambitious aims and do not need any warnings," the quadruple champion concluded.
