According to Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton's bad start at the Silverstone Grand Prix was the team's fault rather than their main driver. They believe the wheelspin Hamilton experienced was due to an unexpected lack of grip.

"We know very well that we have to drive as fast as Ferrari. That is our goal at Hockenheim," Andres Shovlin told F1only.

"We had less grip than expected. Our simulations, which are allowed at Silverstone, told a different story. For some reason, it was not as expected on Sunday. When the wheels started spinning, we lost a lot of traction and then quickly became valuable places," Shovlin, track engineering director added.

The Mercedes team have announced a reshuffle of their personnel for next seson. Aldo Costa and Mark Ellis will both leave their roles rolling the final race of the 2018 season.
