Max Verstappen proved once again in Canada that he is at the top of his game in 2022. The Dutchman won his sixth Grand Prix of 2022 and hopes to add a seventh in Britain.

Verstappen already has six wins to his name this season, yet the Dutchman is keen to stress that there is still an exciting battle going on with Ferrari. "It’s very close. Of course that’s just a stat, if you look at how the races went you understand that in some you need a bit of luck, and some as a team we executed it really well", the Dutchman reveals in conversation with Sky Sports.

"In reality, over one lap, I think we can do better. In the race, it has been very close. In Canada, we finished within a second of each other. I won the race, but it was two different cars within a second of each other finishing the race. It’s a hard battle."

Verstappen on reliability issues

Red Bull were plagued by reliability issues at the start of the season, but they appear to have been resolved for now. Ferrari are now the team with problems, with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz having crashed out on a number of occasions. Still, Verstappen knows that his team must also remain vigilant.

"We have to stay on top of that. We can’t relax. We have to make sure these things don’t happen again. A lot of things can go wrong in a F1 car. A lot of people are involved to prevent these things from happening. We are also not robots, so things can happen, but we try to prevent that."
