FP1: Di Resta tops wet Canadian practice

Paul di Resta was the man to beat on Friday morning in Canada as he put his Force India at the head of the times - though he benefited from a late yellow flag. The Scot set his best time on the medum tyre ahead of Jenson Button who was under a tenth slower, as the wet circuit played to McLaren's few strengths. It took 15-minutes for a car to venture out, with Sauber's Esteban Gutierrez braving the conditions. He finished a lowly 15th quickest, but ahead of his experienced team-mate. Pastor Maldonado - always one to entertain - went off with 10 minutes left, crashing his Williams into the turn four barrier, which brought out the yellow flag and then the checkered just minutes later.
