Räikkönen: Impossible to hold position

Lotus driver Kimi Räikkönen says it was impossible to keep rival drivers behind during the final stint of Sunday afternoon's chaotic British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The Finn, who opted not to pit under the final Safety Car period, had been running second when the racing resumed for a final time, but dropped back to fifth when Mark Webber, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton got by on much fresher rubber. "I tried to hold on at the end of the race, but with tyres that were maybe 20 laps older than the others’ it was impossible to keep them behind. It’s a shame as the race went pretty well until then; we had good pace and looked set for a pretty easy P2, but this is racing....
