Australian Formula Ford series to cease

The Australian Formula Ford championship, a series formerly contested by nine-time Grand Prix winner Mark Webber, will cease at the end of its 43rd season this year. Having lost direct funding from the Ford motor company in 2012, the Confederation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS) explained in a statement issued on Wednesday that it "cannot justify the time and money" involved in running the category moving forward. "As much as CAMS would like to see a thriving national Formula Ford competition, this has been and will be difficult to achieve," said Chief Executive Eugene Arocca.
