Tilke to design new Moscow circuit

Race track designer Hermann Tilke has been assigned to design a new circuit in the neighbourhood of Russian capital Moscow. The Russian sport news agency, R Sport reported earlier that the site is located near the city's Vnukovo airport. “It is planned to open a race track that will be able to host competitions of the very highest level, right up to F1,” city planning official Vladimir Zhidkin said in a statement Tuesday. “The design of the race track in Vnukovo will be carried out by the renowned German company Tilke GmbH.” Contrary to the recently opened Moscow Raceway, the new circuit is intended to be suitable for F1 races, whereas the Moscow Raceway is only approved to hold...
